My Hero Academia’s top pro heroes lay it all on the line every day in battle, but that was especially true of the series' final war arc, where the fate of all Japan, and even the world, was at stake. So with everything at risk, how did these superpowered warriors fair in battle?

Of the top 10 ranked pro heroes, two (rank 9 Yoroi Musha and rank 6 Crust) didn’t participate in the final war; Musha retired, andCrust was killed during the Paranormal Liberation Warby Shigaraki’s Decay. For that reason, this list will include the next two known ranked heroes, Gang Orca (rank 12) and Shishido (rank 13).

Wash, the number 8 ranked pro hero in My Hero Academia.

Heroes will be ranked according to how valuable their contributions to the field of battle were, with some heroes placed in more prominent positions than others, like Endeavor. Anime-only viewers be warned, as this list may includespoilersfor the final season!

10Wash Didn’t Contribute Much

First Appearance:My Hero Academiachapter 184

Wash, the Laundry Hero, is surprisingly ranked at number 8 on the hero charts, although it’s never been clear exactly why he has such a high rank. Wash ultimately didn’t contribute very much to the final battle;he was seen on the initial field of battle, coming through the portals with other heroes, but is absent for the entire rest of the arc. It’s not even known if Wash survived the war, as he hasn’t shown up in the series' epilogue, either.

Wash’s main contribution that fans know of was to provide Edgeshot with one of his bubbles, which has the power to cleanse anything that passes through it. This made it possible for Edgeshot to disinfect his body before attempting to enter Bakugo’s body and stitch up his damaged heart.

My Hero Academia’s Shishido

9Shishido Fought Bravely Against Twice’s Clones

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 246

Shishido, the Lion Hero, was assigned to the battlefield at the Gunga Mountain Villa’s ruins, the same location where All for One was sent to.Shishido was responsible for battling the other villains transferred there alongside All for One, keeping them from interfering in Endeavor and Hawks' battle with the deadly villain. WhenHimiko Toga began creating Twice clonesusing his blood, Shishido tore through the copies, viciously taking down the endlessly regenerating clones.

Shishido was ultimately overwhelmed by the sheer number of Twice clones, and was saved alongside many other heroes when Uravity underwent her Quirk Awakening, gaining the ability to lift objects touched by those that she’s already levitating. This immobilized the Twice clones until they disappeared, leaving Shishido and the other defeated heroes safely behind.

Ryukyu, the rank 10 pro hero in My Hero Academia.

8Ryukyu Fought Off the Liberation Front

First Appearance:My Hero Academiachapter 131

Ryukyu, the Dragoon Hero, was sent to the Takoba National Stadium battlefield, where many members ofthe Paranormal Liberation Front, as well as Tartarus jailbreakers like Gashly Eijiju were located. This proved to be a very difficult battle, as Gashly’s Quirk allowed him to summon an endless supply of baby-like puppets. With the help of reinforcements, Ryukyu and the others at Takoba managed to push back and finally defeat Gashly.

That wasn’t enough for Ryukyu, though, and she ended up accompanying Aizawa as part of the group intended to reinforce Deku. Ryukyu and the other reinforcements kept All for One distracted as Deku dealt the final blow, at last defeating the tyrannical villain once and for all. While Ryukyu’s individual contribution is difficult to measure, she certainly played an important role at multiple points in the battle.

The #12 ranked pro hero in My Hero Academia, Gang Orca.

7Gang Orca Set Up the Okuto Battlefield

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 86

Gang Orca, the Killer Whale Hero, was assigned to his home turf, the battlefield at Okuto Island. That meant that Gang Orca was up against Himiko Toga, as well astwo Near High End Nomu. The battle at Okuto Island initially went very well, with the group capturing many villains, and soon Gang Orca made the important discovery that the Nomu didn’t have Super Regeneration, encouraging the group to focus fire on the two monsters. Toga is teleported away to another battlefield, leaving Gang Orca’s group victorious, having defeated all the villains at Okuto Island.

Gang Orca would then join Aizawa and the others in coming to Deku’s aid against All for One. Gang Orca definitely got at least one good attack off against All for One, and his support proved important in ultimately bringing the villain down for good.

Kamui Woods, the #7 ranked Pro Hero in My Hero Academia.

6Kamui Woods Battled Against All Odds

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 1

Kamui Woods wound up at the Gunga Villa site, responsible for battling villains on the ground and keeping them from interfering with Endeavor’s battle with All for One in the air. However, the situation deteriorated as All for One used the Rewind Serum to reverse time for himself and his injuries.Other villains, like Dabi and Toga, began to appear at the villa, and Toga’s Twice clones quickly overran the area, putting Kamui Woods and the others on the ground at a major disadvantage.

Kamui Woods took the time to save several students during this period, showcasing his valorous personality. By the timeUravity had dealt with Toga and the Twice clones, Kamui Woods had passed out from exhaustion and was picked up and carried off the field of battle by the Wild, Wild Pussycats' Tiger.

The Pro Hero Edgeshot from the My Hero Academia anime series.

5Edgeshot Nearly Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 84

Edgeshot, the Ninja Hero, was part of the task force assigned to deal with Shigaraki, alongside Mirko, Best Jeanist, and others. Edgeshot fought fiercely against Shigaraki, lopping off many of the countless fingers which Shigaraki was able to grow, even without the use of a Quirk. After Bakugo goes all-out and gets struck down by Shigaraki,Edgeshot dedicates himself to saving the boy’s life, and does no more fighting. Instead, he enters Bakugo’s body and begins stitching up his heart, using his own body mass as the stitches.

After doing this, Edgeshot was left as little more than a tiny head, barely alive given that he’d sacrificed so much of his body to save Bakugo. Fortunately, Edgeshot’s efforts weren’t in vain, and Bakugo was able to get back up and continue fighting, even in spite of his injuries.

My Hero Academia: Mirko shows off her new prosthetic arm.

4Mirko Kept Shigaraki Busy at a Crucial Moment

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 184

Mirko, the Rabbit Hero, was set to battle against Shigaraki, using her new prosthetic arm and leg in battle in some ingenious ways. Even as her arm and leg are destroyed, Mirko is able to get replacements from the support team below them, keeping her on the field of battle.Initially overwhelmed by Shigaraki’s non-Quirk-based growth,Mirko battled in a ferocious fashion, ruthlessly tearing through the mass of fingers. Mirko played a key role in keeping Shigaraki distracted while Edgeshot saved Bakugo.

While Mirko was so badly injured by the time Deku arrived that she had been knocked unconscious, she was able to get back up with Lemillion’s help, and eventually retreated from the field of battle. Although Mirko eventually went down, her determination to stay in the fight may well have helped to save Bakugo’s life.

My Hero Academia: Best Jeanist arrives on the scene in the nick of time.

3Best Jeanist Led the Fight Against Shigaraki

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 48

Best Jeanist, the Fiber Hero, was placed in charge of the team set to go against Shigaraki, alongside Deku, Edgeshot, and Mirko. When Deku didn’t make it to the right battlefield,Best Jeanist was forced to alter his plansand take on Shigaraki himself in Deku’s place. He managed to land some powerful attacks using carbon fiber cables, but nothing seemed to even so much as scratch Shigaraki. Best Jeanist was able to recognize how dangerous Shigaraki’s mutant fingers could be, and encouraged his teammates to keep on the move to avoid being crushed.

Best Jeanist worked hard to protect Bakugo’s body while Edgeshot was inside repairing the damage. He was eventually recruited by Aizawa to aid Deku once more in their final confrontation with All for One/Shigaraki, and helped keep the villain busy while Deku delivered the final blow. Best Jeanist was still badly injured, but was seen in the hospital recovering alongside other heroes.

My Hero Academia: Hawks on the phone

2Hawks' Battle Continued Even Without His Quirk

Hawks, the Wing Hero, found himself and Endeavor assigned to battle against All for One at the Gunga Mountain Villa in the final battle. Hawks and Endeavor were in the air, keeping All for One busy, as other heroes battled villains on the ground. Hawks' Quirk was already devastated, with few feathers left, but he was able to supplement his supply of feathers with artificial ones. This didn’t stop Hawks from destroying All for One’s life support mask, however.

All for One used the bullet to Rewind himself and took off, leaving Hawks and Endeavor behind. Hawks tried to stop him, but All for One ended up stealing his Quirk, leaving Hawks defenseless. However, even without his Quirk, Hawks kept fighting, using his synthetic feathers as a weapon. Even Hawks' vestige within All for One continues to stand against the villain, laughing as All for One is finally destroyed.

My Hero Academia: Endeavor from the Endeavor Agency arc

1Endeavor Sacrificed Much in the Final War

First Appearance:My Hero Academia, chapter 28

The Flame Hero, Endeavor, was at Hawks' side, up against All for One at the Gunga Mountain Villa ruins. He and Hawks battled All for One in the air, and Endeavor managed to land many powerful attacks on the villain. All for One was ruthless in retaliation, however, even cutting off one of Endeavor’s hands. All for One was eventually forced to use the Rewind drug and attempted to reunite with Tomura Shigaraki, hoping that he could augment his power further and make him completely invincible.

Endeavor then had to deal with Dabi, who was teleported to the battlefield by Kurogiri. With his family showing up to try to talk Dabi down, Endeavor suddenly had a lot more to protect on the battlefield. Fortunately, he was joined shortly thereafter by Shoto, and they were able to defeat Dabi. Endeavor and Shoto then came to Deku’s aid against the All for One/Shigaraki hybrid being, fighting one last battle as Deku delivered the final blow. All these things together certainly prove that Endeavor was the pro hero who was most essential inMy Hero Academia’s final war.
