The game sold more than 100,000 units within its first 24 hours of release, and it looks like it will continue to be a popular game this summer.
According to a news update onSteam,PEAK’sThe MESA Updatewill be released on August 11. The announcement was accompanied by a brief trailer, showcasing a desert area. What To Expect From PEAK’s First Big Update
A Desert Biome
Other than the release date and a brief 20-second look at what appears to be a desert environment, almost no information was revealed about the update. The new environment should bring new challenges for climbers to face with their friends. The game had an ice mountain environment already, so the addition of a desert should be quite a bit different from what’s been available previously.
A dust tornado was spotted at the end of the trailer, so that could be the new main environmental hazard. Heat exhaustion or thirst could also be an element.

PEAK Is Dominating In 2025
A Co-Op Game Resurgence
PEAKis one of themost played games on Steam, so this update will likely bring even more players to the game. As of this writing, according toSteamDB, there arecurrently 34,948PEAKplayers, with an all-time concurrent count of 114,492. A lot of its success has been attributed to its clever co-op mechanics and spotlight on Twitch and other streaming platforms.
With the game being a roaring success and one of thebest games of 2025,The MESA Updateis likely just the first in a long series of content updates forPEAK. Fans won’t have to wait long either, as the content update will be available on Monday.
