Hayes has played the role of the iconic Julie Williams on the show, on and off, since 1968, and is the only actor on the show to have appeared in all seven decades of the soap. Despite her longevity, however, there is a feeling Hayes has not received the critical recognition she deserves, and a snub at this year’s Daytime Emmys was another example of this.

Per the star’s Instagram account that she shares with her late husband, Bill, Hayes discussed the snub, stating that she was moved that so many people cared. She went on to mention that she has had past nominations, has co-hosted the show once, and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy that she is very proud of. She further stated she did not feel let down by the NATAS:

She Doesn’t Need Awards To Be Viewed As A Legend Of The Genre
Hayes is one of the biggest names in soap opera history, and she doesn’t need awards to cement her legacy as a legend ofDays of Our Lives. However, there is a school of thought that she perhaps deserved a nomination for being able to do so much with the character across seven decades of television, and still be an enduring presence on the show.
There are manystars who got their start on soap operasand have gone on to other things, but Hayes is a star who has continued to be a prominent part of the world of soaps. Her impact onDays of Our Livesas a pop culture institution can not be understated, and with or without accolades, her legacy will endure.

Our Take On Hayes' Emmy Snub
It’s Not The First Snub & Won’t Be The Last, But The Star Seems Sanguine About It
The snub is nothing new for Hayes, and she doesn’t seem too bothered about it, with career longevity clearly being a more important element for her. The2025 Daytime Emmy Award nominationswere dominated byThe Young and the Restless, but some of Hayes' co-stars also got nominations, such as Emily O’Brien and Linsey Godfrey.
Hayes remains one of the most iconic and legendary performers in the world of soaps, and her snub might suggest the way the soap world is evolving, with younger cast members becoming more prominent.
