ABattlefield 2042player experienced an “Only in Battlefield” moment during a match of Breakthrough. The past year has seenBattlefield 2042attempt to save grace following a catastrophic launch and while it has not dominated headlines, DICE’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by fans of the series.
Battlefield 2042once had immense hype that onlybegan to falter after an Open Betathat occurred a couple of months before release. The overwhelming consensus was that the game not only needed to be delayed but revamped systems should be reverted to their iconicBattlefieldstate. But the concerns of players were not headed, and it was released as a broken, incomplete mess. Surprisingly, EA and DICE have stuck withBattlefield 2042and the Year 1 content has provided a good foundation for the multiplayer shooter to find its stride.

Some of the most exhilarating experiences for fans of the franchise are dubbed “Only in Battlefield” moments and Stooge-902 was lucky enough to capture one in a video posted to Reddit. On theExposure map that was added midway through last year, the player is seen speedily traversing down a cliff, seemingly in an attempt to flank enemies approaching their defense point. Upon touching the ground they immediately attach to one of several rappels dotted across the map that allows players to scale the mountainous environment.
While ascending, they aptly dispatch an enemy combatant further up the rappel and take a moment to heal. A helicopter comes out of nowhere as they inject themselves but the player survives. Shooting wildly at the cockpit, the hail of bullets does not seem to kill the pilot but hit indicators do flash up on the screen. Most likely losing control of the vehicle amidst the commotion, the helicopter crashes against the rock facein a fiery explosion that the POV playerjust managed to avoid. Upon landing, the Victory banner adorns the screen, making an already impressive play even sweeter.
These types of moments are only likely to become more frequent asBattlefield 2042becomes more popular and can convince those still playing olderBattlefieldtitles to make the change. Even though the most recentBattlefieldhas made significant improvements since launch, its daily concurrent player count on Steam remains half ofBattlefield 1, which was released in 2016 and no longer receives content updates. However,Battlefield 2042’s substantial 3.2 patch is due to arrive soon and willbring back its beloved Class systemthat was sorely missed over the past year.
