This version of Sabretooth is a true hero, rescuing mutant kids from the world’s sinister villains, and was seemingly a close friend to Logan before he was brainwashed and turned into the Winter Soldier. Although they still find themselves fighting, Sabretooth is clearly one of the series’ good guys, and he officially has the perfect superhero costume to prove it.

Not only does this version of Victor Creed look super cool, his introduction inthe Ultimate Universe reimagines the sadistic villainby giving him a complicated sensitivity that really works for him. Sabretooth’s still a burly tough guy, andhe maintains the classic yellow and brown suit with fur around the collar, but his look is more refined and put-together.

Sabretooth is known for savagery, which is sometimes more obvious by his appearance, buthis updated heroic makeoverreally makes him a well-adjusted superhero for Earth-6160. Victor wears his long hair tied back, and has a well-groomed beard. Both Cappuccio and Alex Lins, guest artist for the Sabretooth-focusedUltimate Wolverine #5, beautifully capture the character’s complex emotions on his face.

Introduced into the Marvel Universe and created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in 1977,Sabretooth is one of Marvel’s most vicious villains, initially battling heroes like Iron Fist and Power Man before becoming a major mutant adversary. There have been many other Sabretooths in the multiverse, even heroic variants, but Earth-6160’s version of the character makes the strongest impression.

Some Marvel Readers Are Already More Invested in Ultimate Sabretooth Than Ultimate Wolverine

The New Victor Creed Deserves More

Seven issues intoUltimate Wolverine, Logan’s already beensaved by Sabretooth and the other Opposition heroesand freed from his Winter Soldier brainwashing. As the Opposition regroups, it seems Victor might be going back to his bar while Wolverine continues his adventures, butit would be a shame for the Ultimate Universe to not utilize its new superhero Sabretooth more.

Marvel’s new Sabretooth redesign totally makes him leading man material, and this Ultimate version of the character shouldn’t be wasted.
