Warning: this article contains spoilers for Wednesday season 1’s ending.
Prior to the debut ofWednesdayseason 2, Netflix has already begun releasing some information about the new season, and one added character sounds particularly intriguing. Creating a new take on the popularAddams Familyseries,Wednesdayseason 1 followed Wednesday Addams toNevermore Academy, a school for outcasts, after being kicked out of her previous school. As the series progresses, Wednesday is pulled deeper and deeper into a murder mystery leading back generations.
While investigating the mysterious crimes surrounding Nevermore, Wednesday also begins to develop close relationships with characters like Enid and even begins dating, though her prospective partner, Tyler, turns out to be a Hyde inWednesday’s season 1 finale. At the end of the season, Wednesday was able to defeat Joseph Crackstone, but Nevermore closed for the semester, leaving questions unanswered about some characters' fates. Now, withWednesdayseason 2well under way, Netflix has announced new characters and one could repeat a season 1 villain dynamic.

Isadora’s Interest In Enid Sounds Eerily Reminiscent Of Wednesday & Ms. Thornhill’s Season 1 Dynamic
The Supposed Mentor Might Have Something Darker In Mind
While Tyler’s Hyde initially seemed to be the biggest problem facing Nevermore and the people of the neighboring town of Jericho, Vermont, season 1’s final episode revealed that Wednesday’s botany teacher, Ms. Thornhill, was actually a woman named Laurel Gates, a distant relative of Joseph Crackstone and wanted to rid the town of outcasts. Laurel Gates was controlling the Hyde and eventually succeeded in resurrecting Crackstone, though Wednesday triumphed at the last minute.
Now,Netflixhas announced thatWednesdayseason 2 will introduce several new characters, including a new teacher who could have ulterior motives. In place of Christina Ricci’s Ms. Thornhill,Wednesdayseason 2 will introduce Isadora Capriplayed byDoctor Whoalum Billie Piper. Per Netflix’s character guide, “Isadora is the Academy’s new head of music” who “takes a special interest in Wednesday’s musical gifts and becomes a mentor to fellow werewolf Enid Sinclair,” creating a strange parallel to Wednesday and Ms. Thornhill in season 1.
Though it could always be possible that Isadora’s motives are truthful, the dark, twisty world ofWednesdayalready makes the character suspicious. Everyone is hiding something, and a teacher taking a special interest in a student turned out badly once before, as Wednesday learned from Laurel Gates. Especially considering thatEnid is far more trusting and outgoing than Wednesday, it seems possible that another enemy of Wednesday, or the Addams Family, might hope to get access to information through Enid.
Wednesday Season 2’s Trailer Has Already Hinted At A Dark Twist For Enid
Enid’s Behavior Appears Changed After Her Time Away From Nevermore
Enid is one of the best characters inWednesdayseason 1, so it is easy to see why many fans love her. However, her appearance and actions throughoutWednesdayseason 2’s trailer already seem a bit strange. The trailer sees the two teens reunite at Nevermore, but Enid seems different from before. Viewers see varying clips of Wednesday with creepy dolls and eventually her handing one with “real human hair” to Enid, who accepts it with hesitation.
It seems unlikely that Enid would willingly betray Wednesday, but that does not mean that her new mentor could not influence her in some sinister way.
While Enid has always been the more outgoing and friendlier of the two roommates, she does not seem like the type to want a horrifying doll, even as a gift from her friend. Additionally, she can be seen at the end of the trailer standing behind some sort of bars, leading some to speculate whetherEnid could become a villain in season 2. It seems unlikely that Enid would willingly betray Wednesday, but that does not mean that her new mentor could not influence her in some sinister way.
Isadora’s sudden appearance at Nevermore and her keen interest in Enid could spell trouble for both Enid and Wednesday. Especially considering Piper is not seen in the new trailer, though several other cast additions are, it could indicate that her character is something of a mystery that will be unraveled as the season progresses.Wednesday’s season 2 trailer does answer some important questions about the Addams Family and the whereabouts of characters like Tyler, but it also raises new questions as well that audiences will have to wait to get answered.
