One fun way to learn more about individualPokémonis through their official Pokédex entries. These range from mildly amusing to surprisingly morbid, and often paint a clearer picture of a Pokémon’s role in the wider world. One particular Pokédex entry will likely change how you see one of the game’s cutest baby Pokémon, especially given the typical personality of its evolved form.
Withover 1,000 Pokémon, it can be hard for the franchise to fully explore what each Pokémon’s personality is like, and how it behaves in the wild. This makes Pokédex entries a great way to get to know your favorite Pokémon, even if they never starred in an episode of the anime, or were heavily featured in one of the game’s stories. You’ll also occasionally come across some genuinely shocking information, like how the adorable balloon PokémonDrifloon apparently kidnaps children. Of course, not all surprising discoveries are negative, and some can actually make Pokémon even cuter.

Igglybuff Has A Very Wholesome Pokédex Entry In Pokémon Sun
Igglybuff’s Dex Entry Describes It As Shy And Needing Encouragement
Igglybuff is the adorable baby version of Jigglypuff, first introduced inPokémon GoldandSilveralongsidepre-evolution Pokémon like Pichu. Its evolution, Jigglypuff, is often characterized as a bit of a diva that is known to lose its temper. Jigglypuff can also be a bit of a prankster, as the anime often showed it drawing on people’s faces after singing them to sleep. Given Jigglypuff’s big, confident personality, I was a bit surprised to learn how cute and wholesome Igglypuff’s Pokédex entry was fromPokémon Sun. The full entry can be seen below:
It likes to sing but is not yet good at it. With praise and encouragement, it will get better little by little.

According toPokémon Sun, Igglypuff is pretty far from the confident and somewhat temperamental Jigglypuff. It’s really cute to learn that Igglybuff is still working on its performing skills, and requires a lot of encouragement from its trainer to improve. This makes its eventual transformation into the more confident Jigglypuff feel like a major victory for this aspiring singer. It’s also a Pokédex entry that can be very relatable.
Everyone Can Learn A Lesson From Igglybuff
Everyone Needs Encouragement While Developing A New Skill
Igglypuff’s need for more confidence is relatable, not just to other aspiring musicians, but anyone who is working on developing a new talent. Getting good at something takes time, and it can often be scary to try and share that talent with others, especially in its early stages. Likewise, encouragement can go a long way for anyone trying to develop a new skill, so it’s equally important to remember to encourage others when they finally do work up the courage to share what they’ve been working on.
I’ve never been a big fan of pre-evolutionPokémon, so Igglybuff was one that I never gave much thought to. However, this Pokédex entry has given me a much deeper appreciation for Igglybuff. I exclusively scribbled in notebooks before I was confident enough to share my writing, but with time and encouragement I’ve been able to evolve into a more confident version of myself. Even if it takes time and can be a bit intimidating at first, I - and Igglybuff - encourage you to keep trying whatever it is you want to get better at.
