Godzilla X Kong: Supernovahas the opportunity to give Monsterverse fans a real big-screen introduction to perhaps the most terrifying original Titan, a full eight years after it made its first appearance. Set to release in March 2027,Godzilla X Kong: Supernovawill be the sixth movie inthe interconnected Legendary Monsterverse, and the third that sees Godzilla and Kong share a screen.
However, the intrigue is no longer surrounding the planet’s two most famous Titans. While Monsterverse fans are always interested in seeing how Godzilla and Kong will power up in order to take on the latest threat, the more interesting speculation and theorizing is related to the other Titans that will appear in the movie.

The most popular theory forGxK: Supernovadeals with the arrival of SpaceGodzillaas the movie’s big bad, but it’s now become the standard for several different major Titans to make appearances in each movie. A common complaint about the last few Monsterverse movies has been thelack of follow-up on the global map of original Titansthat was seen inGodzilla: King of the Monsters.
We’ve seen several of the planet’s more famous Titans since then, but ever so briefly. Tiamat and Scylla, for example, met their ends at Godzilla’s claws in the early stages ofGodzilla X Kong: The New Empire. It’s time for one of the Monsterverse’s most terrifying Titans to make an appearance, andGodzilla X Kong: Supernovais the perfect opportunity.
Why Abaddon Should Appear In Godzilla X Kong: Supernova
The Ultra-Fast, Ultra-Destructive Titan Is A Perfect Minor Antagonist
Monarch breaks the Titans of Earth out into two main classifications: Protectors and Destroyers. One of the most antagonistic Destroyers is undoubtedly the massive spider Titan named Abaddon. InGodzilla: King of the Monsters,Abaddon broke free from Outpost 77 at Devil’s Tower, Wyomingwhen Ghidorah’s call stirred all the planet’s Titans to destruction.
Abaddon is positively terrifying to look at, as its cephalothorax (where its head attaches to its body) is shaped like a human skull, and it houses a set of grotesque animalistic jaws and fangs underneath eight pale eyes. Its profile in the canon companion graphic novelMonsterverse Declassifiedindicates that it’s a “fossorial” creature, meaning it tunnels underground and can stay dormant for centuries.
The wordabaddontranslated from Hebrew means “destruction” or “doom”, and the Biblical character Abaddon has associations with fallen angels, destruction, and the realm of the dead.
What makes Abaddon particularly frightening is its animosity towards humans. Humans are reportedly its favorite prey, and Bernie Hayes theorized thatAbaddon, who is likely the progenitor of all spiders on Earth, is able to possess people using spiders, which it controls via a hive mind.
Abaddon would actually be a great fit forGodzilla X Kong: Supernova, but not as the main villain. TheSupernovasubtitle definitely points towards a cosmic primary villain, whether it’s a Toho classic like SpaceGodzilla or an original Legendary Titan. However, it seems unlikely that we’ll ever go back to just one villainous Titan after breaking the tag-team battle seal with Skar King and Shimo.
Abaddon could be the Titan that takes her out of the larger-scale conflict, making the final battle ofGodzilla X Kong: Supernovathat much harder for Godzilla and Kong.
Abaddon would make the perfect Earth- (or Hollow Earth-) based Titan to supplement the cosmic attacker. As a giant spider,Abaddon makes for a particularly interesting foil for Mothra; Abaddon could be the Titan that takes her out of the larger-scale conflict, making the final battle ofGodzilla X Kong: Supernovathat much harder for Godzilla and Kong.
