Warning: The following contains spoilers for Black Clover manga chapter #382!!
InBlack Clover’s latest chapters, readers finally get to witness Yuno’s newly awakened power against Lucius. While Yuno’s anti-magic promises anexciting team-up with Astafor the next chapters, there was a subtle detail from Lucius that only the most detail-oriented readers may have noticed, bringing one of the most powerful magics in the anime to the manga canon.

Despite the number ofpowerful mages inBlack Clover’s story, the former Wizard Kings are undoubtedly among the strongest in the whole franchise. But they were considered non-canonical characters, except for Lemiel, due to them only appearing in the original film,Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. However, this changed after the release ofBlack Cloverchapter #382.
Black Clover’s Manga Just Confirmed the Film Sword of the Wizard King as Canon
InBlack Cloverchapter #382, Yuno uses the anti-magic version of his spell, Wind Blade Shower, to counter Lucius, breaking what appears to be a horde of summoned soldiers. However, they resemble the pieces from Princia Funnybunny’s spell Legion Magic: Endless Domination, who was one of the former Wizard Kings and an antagonist fromBlack Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.
While the spell could only look similar, there’s a high chance of Lucius being able to use Princia’s magic due to him taking over the Grimoire tower in chapter #379 and obtaining access to the spells from the deceased Clover Kingdom’s mages. Furthermore, Lucius’s spell in chapter #383 resembles the Ice Wedge Magic: World End Martyr by Edward Avalaché.

However, the fact that Lucius is using the Legion and Iced Wedge Magic spells means that Princia and Edward did live in the Clover Kingdom, and their grimoires returned to the tower after their deaths, confirming them as canon in the manga’s timeline. Millie Maxwell also makes an official appearance as part of the Clover Kingdom Magic Tool Research Lab.
Black Clover Author Hinted At The Movie Being Canon Before
Furthermore, this isn’t the first time that Yuki Tabata alludes to Princia’s character, with the author confirming in a Q&AinBlack Clover’smanga volume 31 that there was a female Wizard King in the past, almost one year before theSword of the Wizard Kingpremiere, and reiterated this in an interview released as part of volume 23.5.
As shared by @Princeofmars93 on Reddit,Black Clover’s author admitted to being involved in the process of deciding Princia’s name and magic, as well as the other former Wizard Kings giving their insight to the film’s producers. This highlights why the author would be satisfied enough with the movie to include one of the magic in his manga.

Likewise,Black Clover’s author also incorporated characters from the light novels into the manga, such as Fanzell, Dominante, and Mariella, which means that he is open to including other parts of the franchise in his own work. Nevertheless, these nods to the movie could spark more original content inBlack Clover’s upcoming seasonthat may connect directly to the manga.
