Agents of Mayhem, the open world action game from the creators ofSaints Row, is now available to the masses. To celebrate the occasion, Volition has released a new trailer forAgents of Mayhemthat shows off its vulgar sense of humor, and lets players know what to expect from the gameplay.

TheAgents of Mayhemlaunch trailer gives fans a glimpse at some of the different agents they can take control of in the game, and what powers they have at their disposal. It also makes itsconnections toSaints Rowvery clear, with the opening moments of the trailer pointing out that the game is developed by the same studio, and by showcasing the infamous Johnny Gat on numerous occasions.

Johnny Gat’s inclusion in the game is significant, as his gameSaints Row: Gat Out of Helldirectly leads into the events ofAgents of Mayhem. However, that’s not really mentioned by the trailer, and in fact the trailer doesn’t bother itself with trying to explain its plot to any potential players. For the most part, it seems as though the game’s story is secondary to causing open world destruction, and all fans really need to know is that the game has some loose connections toSaints Rowand it takes place after the events depicted in those games.

WhileAgents of Mayhemmay be attempting to branch out on its own, the launch trailer’s heavy focus onJohnny Gatshows that the game is still very much aimed at fans ofSaints Row. Considering this, one has to wonder why Volition didn’t simply makeSaints Row 5instead of a new IP.

The studio touched on this a little bit back at E3. Apparently, it’s as simple as Deep Silver giving the go-ahead for Volition to work on a new IP, and the studio ran with the opportunity. Even so, the game’s story connections toSaints Rowcould make some see it as the next game in the series anyway.

Regardless of whyAgents of Mayhemisn’t being touted asSaints Row 5, the game should still please fans of that franchise, as seen in ourAgents of Mayhemreview. With the game now making its way into the hands of fans, it will be interesting to see if it will reach the same heights asSaints Rowor not.

Agents of Mayhemis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
