Ezra Bridger With His Parents

6His Origin

Ezra’s journey was always in defiance of the Empire, from the day he was born. His parents worked alongside young Ezra, broadcasting transmissions to speak out against the tyranny of the Empire, while also rescuing children who had been orphaned in the war against the Empire.

All of this unfortunately led to their demise at the hands of the Empire, which only galvanized their young son to continue his defiant ways. After living on the streets of Lothal for years, he joined the crew of the Ghost and would return to Lothal to liberate it from the Empire via his actions in taking down Thrawn.

Ezra Bridger Lightsaber Blaster

5His Unique Lightsaber

Ezra hasn’t yet been shown using a lightsaber inAhsoka, preferring to primarily use the force as a weapon when he and Sabine were set upon by Thrawn’s forces. However, back inStar Wars: Rebels, he designed his own lightsaber, and itwas a completely unique weaponthat no other Jedi had ever thought about.

Instead of spinning blades or using multiple blades, Ezra designed a lightsaber that had a blaster in the hilt. This made the weapon hugely functional in pretty much any offensive or defensive situation he could be involved in. Unfortunately for Ezra, this unusual weapon, one of the strangest lightsaber designs in the franchise, was later destroyed by Darth Vader and won’t be appearing inAhsoka.

Ezra Bridger Star Wars Rebels

4His Name Is Biblical

It is surprising to findStar Warsnames coming from so traditional a source, but the name Ezra is a significant one in the bible and that’s where Bridger’s name comes from. The interesting part of this is that the name was chosen to represent the personality traits that Ezra was supposed to eventually grow into, starting outas one of the weakest Jediand evolving throughoutRebels.

In the bible, Ezra is the name of a priest and scholar who remains important in Judaism. Ezra, finally shown in a much moremature form inAhsoka, is finally truly embodying the traits that his name implies he was always meant to grow into eventually.

Ezra Bridger With Darth Maul

3He Brushed The Dark Side

Like Ahsoka herself, Ezra has experienced various sides of the force, helping him to become a more rounded force user as a result. In his case, Bridger was nearly accepted as Darth Maul’s apprentice after the Sith attempted to lure Ezra to the dark side inStar Wars: Rebels, nearly becoming a fallen Jedi.

Maul, the underrated prequel villain, was a major figure of the dark side throughout much of Rebels, and he actually did convince Ezra to use the dark side of the force to open a Holocron. Fortunately, before his journey into the darker regions of the force continued, Ezra turned away from Maul and decided to follow him no further. Ezra’s wisdom gained from seeing the dark side of the force up close helped him become a more powerful warrior for the light as he grew older.

C3PO With The Ewoks

2Ezra’s Story Was Told By C-3PO

Though it may sometimes appear as if there is a disconnect between the stories told in the originalStar Warsfilms and those told in the animated series, a retcon to some events through a novel showed that during the Battle of Endor, C-3PO told Bridger’s story in addition to that of Luke Skywalker to a group of Ewoks.

The novel wasReturn of the Jedi: Beware of the Dark Sideand in it, C-3PO told about how a young Jedi sent out a video message that inspired many to join the Rebellion. Looking back on it by then, it was fascinating to see the effect that the crew of the Ghost really had on the Rebellion as a whole.

Ezra Bridger World Between Worlds

1He’s Been To The World Between Worlds

A big part of Ahsoka’s own adventure in her show has been her talk with her own former master, Anakin Skywalker,in the World Between Worlds. But it isn’t her first time there, as Ezra once stumbled into that place through a Jedi Temple inRebels, and was greatly tempted to change time while there.

Ezra found that it would be possible to bring back those who had been lost using the world between worlds, and he was certainly tempted, after finding he could save Ahsoka fromthe terrifying Darth Vader, he wanted to attempt to go further by rescuing his former master Kanan Jarrus and maybe even his parents, but Ahsoka convinced him not to mess any further with the timeline as it could have major repercussions.
