American Horror Story(AHS) actor Sarah Paulson confirmed that she’ll be directing an episode ofAmerican Horror Stories, an anthology spin off of self-contained episodes, at a Television Critics Association panel for the upcomingNetflixseriesRatched.
AHS creator Ryan Murphy announced thatAmerican Horror Storieswas in development back in May via Instagram. Besides Paulson’s announcement not much is known about the new series except that it’ll be made up of hour long ghost stories, Paulson also said she’s unsure whether she’ll be cast in the new series.

This isn’t the first time Paulson has sat in the director’s chair, having previously directedAHSseason 8’sReturn to Murder Houseepisode. A key cast member since the beginning of the series, Paulson has appeared in every season except the 9th, though she’s expected to return for the stalled 10th season.
When asked aboutAHS’s 10th season production status, Paulson replied, “I don’t know more than you all do, California is not having its finest moment right now dealing with this pandemic. We were less than two weeks from startingImpeachmentbefore everything shut down. Right now, it’s lots of rumors of going back in October or maybe 2021.” Meanwhile Ryan Murphy is apparently also working on a revival of his camp horror comedy seriesScream Queens. Originally cancelled after two seasons in 2018,Scream Queensgained a cult following calling for it to come back. Murphy seemingly confirmed the news of a third season in a response to an instagram comment.
The self-contained anthology series is enjoying a welcome resurgence thanks to the likes ofBlack Mirror,Tales from the Loopand Jordan Peele’s revival of the classicTwilight Zone.American Horror Storiesis a welcome addition veering away from cautionary sci-fi stories and hopefully can stand alongside the likes ofTales from the Cryptwith campy fun scares.
No firm details on whenAmerican Horror Storiesis due to air butAmerican Horror StorySeason 10 is expected in 2021.
