TheAnimal CrossingSanrio Villager Amiibo cards will be making their way to the United States for the first time, bringing the friendly cast of Sanrio villagers toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, similarly to how they visited players inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf.
Sanrio characters were first introduced toAnimal Crossingback during theNew Leafdays with the Welcome Amiibo update. They were later made compatible with themobile spinoffAnimal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Each Amiibo card brought one of six Sanrio-inspired villagers and their adorably themed RVs to the player’s camp inNew Leaf. These Amiibo cards were made available outside of Japan, but only for some areas such as the UK and never in the US. But now, identical Amiibo cards will be available shortly forAnimal Crossing: New Horizons’North American players.

These Amiibo cards will bring all of the same Sanrio-inspired villagers toNew Horizons: Rilla, Marty, Etoile, Chai, Chelsea, and Toby. Previously, players were able to scan the SanrioAmiibo cards intoNew Horizonsvia Harvey’s Island, but all it would bring were posters with Sanrio characters as decoration for the player’s home.
Now, it looks likethe Sanrio Collaboration Packwill take the same shape as it did inAnimal Crossing: New Leafby allowing the villagers to visit the island resort. Campers and RVs haven’t yet been introduced toNew Horizons, but they were introduced toNew Leafwith the Welcome Amiibo update. A visiting villager would park at Harvey’s campground, so it’ll likely be the same withNew Horizons, but instead on Harv’s island. Players can also scan Amiibos to do photoshoots at Harv’s, so it’s likely players will be able to do the same with the Sanrio cards.
The Sanrio Collaboration Pack will release on March 26 as a Target exclusive. No price point has been announced forthe Amiibo release in the US, but in Canada, it looks like they’ll be priced at $6.99. The cards will also offer new furniture items that aren’t currently available inNew Horizons.
Also included with the Welcome Amiibo update forNew LeafwereThe Legend of ZeldaAmiibos, which added villager versions ofTwilight Princess’Wolf Link and Ganon. WhenNew Horizonsreleased, players found that these Amiibos didn’t work at all, not even for photoshoots on Harv’s island. But with the Sanrio Amiibo announcement, fans are hoping an update supportingThe Legend of ZeldaAmiibos is in the works.
