TheAnthemdemo kicked off today with a bevy of content for most players to explore (assuming they can connect to the servers). A few players, however, are checking every nook and cranny for any hidden content or easter eggs the developer may have hidden away. It’s a good thing too, because something very cool was discovered: a throwback to the good old Konami Code.

As players soon found out, typing in the code at the title screen will change theAnthemtheme into an 8-bit version of itself. It can be performed exactly as you remember on Xbox and PC, but varies slightly on the PlayStation 4. Just wait until the title screen and input the correct code:

PC: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A

Xbox: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A

PS4: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, O, X

For anyone who may not know the history of the Konami Code - though it’s doubtful such a gamer exists - this easy combination of button presses would open up a myriad of cheats for gamers who were struggling with a Konami title.

People to this day will try the code for a lark, whether it is a Konami release or not. Those who thought to take a chance that the code would work on theAnthemdemo were rewarded with a retro easter egg that all gamers can appreciate.

Speaking of the demo, it is in full swing from now until the 27th, with an open demo slated for early February. The demo got off to a bit of a rough start due to what was originally thought to beserver capacity issues. EA has denied this, however, saying it was something else entirely. Whatever the reason, the issue has since been resolved and the company is urging players still encountering issues to restart the game and attempt to join again.

Those who don’t have access to the demo but would like to know how it plays, we have ahands-on preview ofAnthemwith our thoughts and reactions. Is it theDestinykiller some think it will be? Give the preview a gander and see how it measures up.

Anthemis scheduled to release on June 11, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
