Sources reveal that iPhone maker Apple will be teaming up with Paramount to make Martin Scorsese’s incredibly expensive new movie,Killers of the Flower Moon. Apple’s other new major movie purchase isGreyhound, the WW2 movie that will starForrest Gumpactor and10-timeSaturday Night Livehost Tom Hanksin the main role.
Deadline reports thatApplehas emerged as the victor in the bidding war forKillers of the Flower Moon, a huge Western movie directed by Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Paramount, which optioned the project, allowed Rick Yorn, the manager of Scorsese and DiCaprio, to begin finding a company to fund the movie after Paramount found it too expensive.

The movie is based on a book about the real-life murders of several rich Osage Native Americans who were killed in Oklahoma in the 1920s after oil deposits were found on their land. While Oklahoma would be giving the production tax credits, the cost of the movie could be between $180-200 million. TheSonic the Hedgehogmovie redesignshows that Paramount isn’t against spending a bit more money to make a movie right, but it may have felt that this price was just too high.
The deal between Apple and Paramount means that Apple will be funding and making the movie, meaning it will likely be available on its Apple TV+ streaming service. There had been rumors thatKillers of the Flower Moonwould beexclusive to streaming servicesbut the report confirms that Paramount will be distributing the movie to theatres.
