During its official announcement at Pax East 2019, one major detail aboutBorderlands 3wasn’t confirmed, and that is its release date. Yet it appears that this release date could have actually been hidden in plain sight in the game’s official reveal trailer. Because theBorderlands 3tease contained several hidden messages, including morse code, braille, and a SHiFT code, hiding the release date in the official trailer is by no means a stretch of the imagination.

According to Redditor Zottelpanda, theBorderlands 3release date is October 1, 2o19. Before moving forward, it’s worth mentioning that this is simply speculation, so this news should be taken with a healthy dose of salt. At 1:39 in the official trailer, there is a big white building in the background. At 1:51, a 10 can be seen on this building, and prior to that, at 1:40, a 01 can be seen on one of the skyscrapers.

The question may be why is this being taken to mean October 1 instead of January 10, but there are actually several reasons backing up this theory. First, October 2019 will be an anniversary for the launch of the firstBorderlandsback in 2009, meaningBorderlands 3could be giving a nod toward the original, which is receiving aBorderlandsGame of the Year edition Remasteron April 3.

Another supporting fact for this theory is that October 1 is a Tuesday, which is a common day of release. In other words, everything adds up to suggest that thisBorderlands 3theory has weight, with more details set to come on April 3 as well. Considering the anniversary correlation and the release of the original remaster on April 3, an announcement of this release date would not be out of the question.

Until then, however, we have to wait and see, as the ball is in Gearbox’s court. With walking guns, multiple planets, and the interesting pair of baddies known as the Calypso Twins, it seems safe to say that theofficialBorderlands 3trailerexcited many fans of the franchise.

Borderlands 3is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
