Back in 1999, Burger King teamed with The Pokemon Company to help promotePokemon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back. This promotion included some of the most unique Burger King toys to date,  with gold-plated Pokemon cards that came in special Pokeballs. Now Burger King is bringing some Pokemon toys back to its King Jr meals, this time to promote the upcomingDetective Pikachufilm.

Burger King will have sixDetective Pikachutoys available in its King Jr meals, allowing one toy per meal. The toys are based on themore-realistic furry Pokemon designsseen in theDetective Pikachufilm. Most of the toys are even set in an attack pose, including the Mewtwo toy, which is sure to be one of the most popular out of the lineup.

The Burger King Pokemon toys being released as part of theDetective Pikachufilm are as follows:

While some fans may have preferred to see Burger King bring back the gold Pokemon cards, these toys are sure to still be collectibles to Pokemon fanatics. Once Burger King runs out of its supply ofDetective Pikachutoys, they will be gone forever, so anyone who wants to complete their collection should be sure to visit participating Burger King locations and get themselves a King Jr meal.

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear how long theDetective Pikachutoys will be available at Burger King. We know the toys are already available at some Burger King locations, but no end date has been listed so far.Detective Pikachupremieres on May 10, so one has to imagine that the toys will have to be available for at least a couple of weeks after the movie hits theaters.

ThisDetective Pikachupromotion could very well convince somePokemonfans who don’t usually eat at Burger King to visit the restaurant, if only to collect all of the Pokemon toys. AssumingDetective Pikachuis as big of a hit at the box office as many are predicting, Burger King could be on the cusp of a huge sales spike.
