With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many gaming events have been cancelled or postponed, including esports tournaments. Fortunately for esports fans, Activision Publishing has decided to start a new tournament with one of2019’s best mobile games,Call of Duty: Mobile.

The tournament season will begin with its first stage on April 30th for eligibleCall of Duty: Mobileplayers and will feature a prize pool of more than $1 million up for grabs. Eligible gamers ranked Veteran or higher in multiplayer will be able to participate in four open qualifiers, held on each weekend from April 30th to May 24th.
Participants have to be at least 18 years old and be in good standing with the game, without any open or undisclosed violations. Players also must use an eligible handset and can’t use any external devices that modify the game’s controls (such asBluetooth controllers, mouse and keyboard, or desktop emulator) without the consent of the event administration. The administration has the right to investigate any player deemed in violation of these rules and disqualify them from participating in any future tournaments.
Chris Plummer, the vice president of Activision’s mobile division, has said it is very excited for this tournament. Almost as excited as fans were when afavoriteModern Warfare 2map was teasedforMobile. “As the next-evolution in our fan-favorite Ranked Play, this tournament format gives eligibleCall of Duty: Mobileplayers a chance to compete with players from around the world for cash and prizes.”
Call of Duty: Mobilehas been making regular updates, most recently including a Crescent Moon event, a Gun Game variant, and theSteel Legion update. And like many other esports games, it’s been getting increasingly aggressive with its bans against cheaters.
