A freshCall of Duty: VanguardZombies experience released during Season 2, and fans have been quite critical of the new content. While Treyarch has responded to certain complaints bybuffing the Ray Gun and DecimatorWonder Weapons, some problems are tied to the core content of the map itself. Not only are many uninterested in an objective-focused approach, but the incredibly brief and easy main quest was a major letdown.

Still, some of the new content that has been more widely appreciated is the Dark Aether entities. One of these entities, Vercanna the Last, assists theCall of Duty: VanguardOperators since she holds a grudge against Kortifex for wiping out her people. The other entity, Zaballa the Deceiver, serves as a mini boss that uses energy blasts and makes copies of herself to fight the player. While these two additions are solid on their own, they could be indicative of a larger pattern, as each hub map going forward could introduce a friendly and villainous entity to the mix.

Why Each Call of Duty: Vanguard Map Introducing More Entities Makes Sense

Perhaps the biggest point in favor of more Dark Aether entities coming with each map is that new mini boss types are usually added alongside eachCall of DutyZombies experience. Die Maschine brought Megatons, Firebase Z featured Mimics, Mauer Der Toten introduced Disciples, andForsakenincorporated Abominations. With Der Anfang adding Sturmkriegers and Terra Maledicta adding Zaballa, this trend certainly seems set to continue.

Another point of evidence in favor of more antagonistic entities is the backstory of Zaballa.Treyarchhas described this new Zombies character as one of Kortifex’s “Sisters of Agony,” a mysterious group that is firmly devoted to the powerful deity. The plural form of the word sister implies that there are other members of this faction that players have not yet met, and these deities could serve as the mini bosses of the nextCall of Duty: VanguardZombies maps.

Alongside new mini bosses, players can likely expect friendly entities alongside new maps as well. With an Elder God being tied to each of the Artifacts, which serve as the Field Upgrades ofCall of Duty: Vanguard, more entities will need to be added if Treyarch wants to introduce more abilities. WithHealing Aurareturning, it would make sense if the otherBlack Ops Cold Warabilities made a comeback as well, so Tesla Storm, Frenzied Guard, and Toxic Growth could be on the way. If they do come back, a new entity will surely follow.

While it is possible that these abilities and entities could be introduced in between hub maps, it seems more likely that they will be added alongside new play spaces. As seen in theTerra Maledicta easter egg, Vercanna was heavily involved, with Treyarch using the mode’s first main quest to set up her character and her role within the story. It could use future quests to do the same with other entities, further fleshing out its cast of Elder Gods with each easter egg.

WithCall of Duty: VanguardSeason 2’s Zombies contentintroducing two new entities alongside Terra Maledicta, it would make sense for future maps to follow this pattern. Kortifex’s other Sisters of Agony could be mini bosses like Zaballa, while friendly Elder Gods like Vercanna could assist players in the main quests of each new map. Though this is purely speculation, fans may want to expect something very similar to Terra Maledicta’s approach with future content drops.
