A timer inCall of Duty: Modern Warfarehas begun counting down to Warzone’s releaseand an official trailer has also dropped detailing exactly what players can expect out of the mode.Call of Duty: Warzonewill have two different modes: Extraction and Battle Royale, each taking place on a large map and supporting 150 players going head to head. Releasing March 10,Call of Duty: Warzoneis not just a game mode forModern Warfare, but rather, is a standalone game.

This means that even players who do not ownModern Warfarewill be able to playWarzone, dropping in with players who are accessing it either as an individual, free to play game, or as a free add on to their existing copy ofModern Warfare. The map that they will be playing on is a mix ofModern WarfareGround War and Special Ops locations thatmay prove more successful thanModern Warfare’s Blackout, especially since more people will have access to it.
Luckily for fans of theCall of Dutyfranchise, the long wait forCall of Duty: Warzoneis nearly over, which coupled with its free-to-play nature is a cause for celebration for many. While it will take time to determine whether or notCall of Duty: Warzonewill be a successful new entry inModern Warfare’s ongoing saga, it will definitely be interesting to see how bothCall of Dutyenthusiasts and battle royale game fans respond toWarzoneand the unique gameplay features it is bringing to the table come March 10.
