Call of Duty: Warzonefans may have only just found the tarp-covered item in Verdansk 84, but the mystery of what rests below has already come to an end. As it turns out, the tarpedCall of Duty: Warzoneitem is exactly what some fans had expected, and it fits very well with the location’s theme.
While there were several theories aboutCall of Duty: Warzone’s tarped item, a few were more prominent than others. The first saw fans theorizing that one ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s incoming crossovers would be revealed using this tarp. Thus far, fans have been teased about an appearance from John Rambo andDie Hard’s John McClane. Leakers have also hinted at a crossover withTerminator, with some wondering if the T-800 would be found beneath the tarp. However, this theory has proven to be false.

Instead of shrouding the statue ofan action hero like Rambo, the tarp was instead hiding a majorCall of DutyLeague tribute. This too had been theorized by fans, with gamers noticing the text of “champion” under the tarp. The tribute itself acknowledges the Dallas Empire, the 2020Call of DutyLeague champions. Under the tarp, a massive replica of the blackCall of DutyLeague Championship Trophy can be seen. Below the statue, the Dallas Empire name is clearly engraved on a plaque, with the year 2020 written in gold letters as well. The team’s log is also visible.
Behind the statue, the names of five Dallas Empire stars can be seen. The banners hang from the top ofVerdansk 84’s Stadium, with the decorations being clearly visible toCall of Dutyfans. Pictures of each Dallas Empire member are included in the tribute as well, with the year 2020 once again seen on each banner. While these decorations will likely be updated once again when 2021’s champions are crowned, fans will be seeing this current tribute for the foreseeable future.

While the tarp is still covering the statue in the current version of the game, anewCall of Duty: Warzoneupdatewill go live tomorrow that removes the black bag. A fun video was also released by the officialCall of DutyLeague YouTube account, with a brief clip of the players’ reactions shown. Clearly blown away by the fact that their pictures are visible inside the game, seeing the genuine excitement of the Dallas Empire makes for a heartwarming moment. With a player count of over 100 million, plenty of gamers will be visiting the statue soon.
While next weekend’s Major V tournament will be streamed online, fans of the pro scene can also look forward toliveCall of DutyLeague eventsmaking a return later this year. Until then, though, visiting Verdansk’s brand-new statue could prove worthwhile.
