TheCall of Dutyfranchise by Activision has been host to a plethora of milestones in the past, often related to player count andsales.Call of Duty: Warzoneis no exception to this habit, now passing an impressive milestone by anyone’s count.
SinceCall of Duty: Warzone’s successful release, it has seen continued traffic among the multiplayer player base with aplayer count of 30 millionin mid-March. The player count has only increased since that point, surpassing a player count of 50 million. An announcement for the massive milestone has been made by the official Twitter account forCall of Duty,which can be seen below.

The 50 million player count is a considerable number by any metric. It seems that it has increased exponentially since its initial release, as well. WithinCall of Duty: Warzone’s first day of release, the title had alreadysurpassed a player count of 6 million. It would soon hit the 15 million mark, now making it past 50 million.
There are likely multiple reasons forCall of Duty: Warzone’s massive success. First and foremost, the franchise is already very popular and its existing fanbase likely carried over toCall of Duty: Warzone,and it is also free to play. This means that it will inherently get more downloads due to the game being free to redeem. Additionally, with eachCall of Dutycomes a migration of players from the previous iteration, soCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers may be more likely to playCall of Duty: Warzonegiven the fact that it is now the most recentCall of Dutyiteration focused on multiplayer.
Elsewhere in theCall of Dutyrealm,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 CampaignRemasteredhas been released. Much to the dismay of fans, the game only contains the 2009 title’s campaign withCall of Duty: Warzoneintended as the focus for the multiplayer base otherwise disinterested inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign. Moreover,Call of Duty: Warzonewill likely continue to maintain this multiplayer base, if not see it rise, for weeks to come.
