Summary

Fallout 76is currently free to play across both PC and consoles. Bethesda launched this limited promo to commemorate the game’s five-year anniversary.

Released in November 2018,Fallout 76had a rather disappointing launchthat was mired in technical issues and inhibited by the game’s overall lack of content. Despite that lackluster debut, Bethesda spent the next half a decade polishing its multiplayer shooter and churning out regular content, on top of making the game much more appealing to solo players. That continued support eventually broughtFallout 76to a much better place, allowing it to maintain a healthy player community to this day.

The free-to-play week overlaps with the start of the Spooky Scorched event, which runs from tomorrow until November 7. During this period,Fallout 76playerswill be able to hunt down costumed Scorched mobs that will drop Spooky Treat Bags and Mystery Candy, as well as legendary weapons and armor. The Atomic Shop will offer a free Spooky Candy Bowl for the duration of the event. That item will serve as a repository of Spooky Scorched drops that can be enjoyed by other players visiting one’s camp. Giving out candy using this container will earn progress toward various Halloween challenges and rewards.

Bethesda is also planning to host two Wasteland Classroom streams on October 25 and November 1 for new and returning players looking to brush up on their in-game knowledge. The developer will be giving awayFallout 76Atomsthroughout both Twitch broadcasts. Anniversary challenges and rewards are set to be available in the game over a two-week period ending November 21.

The actual five-year anniversary ofFallout 76falls on November 14. That day will see Bethesda host another Twitch stream featuring a birthday parade with floats and a generous Atom giveaway. These anniversary celebrations arrive at the height of theFallout 76Season 14, which started on August 22 and is scheduled to conclude come December 5.

Fallout 76is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
