Sony’s E3 2016 presentation contains a surprise featuring an old friend - theCrash Bandicootgames are getting remastered from the ground up for the PS4.
Crash Bandicootis a series that many PlayStation fans grew up playing, and functioned a lot like Sony’s answer toSuper Mario. It should come as no surprise, then, that fans of theCrash Bandicootseries have made Sony very well aware of just howlarge the demand for newCrash Bandicootgames for the PS4really is. When news thatCrash Bandicootwould feature inSkylanders, however, fans of the series became worried that their favorite Sony animal protagonist would be relegated to a bit-part on the current generation of consoles.
Fans needn’t have worried, however.Sony announced during its E3 2016 presentationthat theCrash Bandicootgames will be getting a remastered version for the PS4, and it’s not just a sampler - Sony has commissionedCrash Bandicoot 1,Crash Bandicoot 2, andCrash Bandicoot Warpedto all be remastered and rebuilt from the ground up for the PS4. Clearly, Sony has heardgamer’s requests forCrash Bandicootto return to consoles, and fans of the series will likely be shellshocked that so muchCrashis coming in the near future.
Of course,Sony has been teasingCrash Bandicoot’s returnfor a while now, but the hints and references had gone on for so long that many gamers assumed it was just a running joke for Sony’s social media departments to toy with the emotions ofCrash Bandicootfans. The news is real, however, and although Sony didn’t have any gameplay footage to display, the audience present still responded with exceptional positivity.
While Sony didn’t have a newCrash Bandicootgame, this has to be the next best thing. Everything about the announcement smacks of a new-gen market test, and if the newCrash Bandicootremasters sell well and incite the same sort of passion older gamers have for the Sony mascot in a younger generation, it’s likely a newCrash Bandicootwill be coming next.
Crash Bandicoot Remasteredwill be available exclusively on the PS4. No release date has been announced as of this writing.
