With E3 2019 right around the corner, leaks and rumors are arriving on a daily basis. After years of anticipation, one of the biggest questions about the show is how much we’ll learn aboutCyberpunk 2077this time around. It’s already been confirmed that there will benoCyberpunkhands-on demo at E3, but many rumors suggest the game will reveal a release date while on stage at the Microsoft conference. That said, some industry insiders think the release date still isn’t set in stone.

Yesterday, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier started a lot of buzz by taking to Twitter and pretty definitively claiming that “Cyberpunk is absolutely not coming out this year.” The tweet triggered a lot of follow up questions, considering the rumors about aCyberpunk 2077release date reveal just a week from now, and Schreier ended up replying to explain what his sources have told him about the game’s release and why he thinks a 2019 launch is so unlikely.

His confidence on the subject apparently comes from having three sources with knowledge of the game’s launch plans…

CD Projekt Red has a history of not releasing games until they are fully ready, so it does seem likely that the studio would try to delay launch if the studio needs more time. That said, there have also been rumors thatcompare theCyberpunkdevelopment to that ofAnthem, which isn’t a great sign for the highly-anticipated title. At this point, it’s not uncommon for release dates to shift and move around, so if a late 2019 date is revealed on stage atE3 2019, don’t be surprised if it ends up getting pushed to early 2020 later this year.

E3 isn’t too far away, so we should learn more about the game, and possibly its release plans, within just a week or two. Be sure to check back in the near future for moreCyberpunk 2077news and updates as E3 2019 approaches.
