Afterrumors about aDark Soulsremasterfor the Nintendo Switch spread around the internet yesterday, Nintendo officially announcedDark Souls Remasteredfor release on July 05, 2025.
Fans of From Software’s dark fantasy RPG series have been speculating about future releases ever since the release ofDark Souls 3last year. From Software has been very open about not having plans for moreDark Soulscontent, but this evidently doesn’t apply to remasters.Dark Soulsfans can rest easy knowing that the Switch remaster rumors are true, and that even if it’s not new content, they can now play the game mobile.
The remaster was confirmed at the end of the Nintendo Direct mini with a minute long teaser of a bonfire lighting up to a song that should be familiar to all fans. While the trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, players can expect updates graphics, improved frame rates, and better resolution. Along with a make over and a new coat of paint, the game will come with the critically acclaimedArtorias of the AbyssDLC.
There aren’t yet any details about howDark Soulswill play while mobile, but players can rest assured that the game won’t be any easier to play while on the train, so they can now rage on the go. Praise the Sun!
As for the rest of the sequels, it is rumored thatFrom Software is seeking to remaster the wholeDark Soulstrilogyand bring them to Switch. From Software has already said that it would like to bring all three games to the Switch, but that it was waiting to see the “financial viability” of doing so. The official announcement of the first remaster is a good sign that the other two are on their way, especially if this remaster sells well.
From Software seems to be up to a lot lately, as it alsoteased a new dark fantasy RPGlast month, along with a statement confirming that it is working on anArmored Coregame. These projects still haven’t been revealed, but now the wait has been made a bit easier knowing thatDark Souls Remasteredis only a few months away.
Dark Souls Remasteredis coming to Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and is currently set to release on May 25.
