But Jo has no idea how to use her powers to help him break free. The two chase one another all over the desert, as they both struggle with the gifts bestowed upon them.
Eventually, the two wind up back near the giant Green Lantern-like structure that invaded their hometown. Jo’s energy begins to activate the giant green relic. As it comes to life, Jo grabs Hal and drags the two of them inside of it. There,they find their friend John Stewart, alive and well, wearing a glowing yellow uniform.

A Powerful Green Lantern Trades Colors in the Absolute Universe
In the Absolute Universe, things are a lot different compared to the Prime Universe. When Abin Sur came to Earth, he put an entire town under quarantine. One-by-one, he seemingly judged Evergreen’s residents, and eliminated them by enveloping them in a green fire. John Stewart was on such individual, and it was unknown what became of him.
Abin Sur did mention that he didn’t kill anyone, but fans have yet to see what happened to John. As it turns out, he’s been incubating in the Green Lantern all this time. In addition to being alive, John looks as though he’s gained light powers of his own, but yellow instead of the traditional green.

There’s so much about how the Green (or in this case, Yellow) Lanterns work in the Absolute Universe. But Abin Sur has clearly passed on some immense power to Hal and Jo, and it looks like John received just as much, if not greater, power. Whatever’s happened to him, DC’s Green Lanterns just got a major asset in John Stewart.
