Demon Slayerhas quickly become one of the most popular shonen anime of all time, in no small part due to its amazing premise, brilliant animation, andgreat characters that are quite memorable in their own right. In fact, both the character design and writing are in a class of their own, allowing each person who has been introduced in the show to have an impact.

Of course, to say that every character in the show is memorable wouldn’t really be the correct statement. After all, the series has so many new faces that some of them can be hard to recognize. However, the worst outcome is when these characters feel like a waste of space, and the following people inDemon Slayerneed to really get their act together if they’re planning to play a major role in the series.
6Sanemi Shinazugawa
For someone who’s supposed to be a Hashira,Sanemi doesn’t seem like the most stable Demon Slayer around. The fact that he could pierce Nezuko without a care in the world was pretty cold, especially with Tanjiro begging for her sister’s life!
It’s going to take a serious display of power or forgiveness for Sanemi to redeem himself in the eyes of the audience. Given how unlikable his personality is, it can be said that trying to be the most liked person in the room is the least of Sanemi’s priorities, anyway.
5Shinjuro Rengoku
He might not have had the most screen time on the show, but it’s not hard to say that Shinjuro is a blight upon the family name. His reaction tothe news about Kyojurowas pretty underwhelming, with his alcoholic tendencies making him even more despicable in the eyes of the audience.

Given how minor his role was, most people don’t understand why he was even shown in the first place. After all, the Rengoku family hasn’t really been important in the grand scheme of things and are probably going to be nothing more than fringe characters anyway, so introducing them felt like a waste of time…especially when it comes to Shinjuro.
4Genya Shinazugawa
Genya might not have made his presence known too many times across the series, but his brief appearances were enough to let viewers know that he’s not exactly the nicest character around. He had no problems with dragging a child by the hair simply because he wasn’t getting his way, which is simply ludicrous behavior.
Givenhis relation to the Wind Hashira, it’s easy to see that unnecessary aggression runs within the family. Of course, there’s a long way to go for Genya to make a good impression once again, so writing him off would be pretty short-sighted.
3Zenitsu Agatsuma
The inclusion of Zenitsu on this list is easily going to be quite controversial. After all, this character has delivered a ton of comedic gold and can bring it when the situation escalates, which is why so many fans love this character.
However, the fact that Zenitsu always has to pass out and access his subconsciousness touse the Thunder Breathing Stylewas a joke that was funny the first time around. Unfortunately, since Zenitsu has been shown to be incompetent time and time again, no fight can really be won by his hand — instead, a contrived set of circumstances need to knock him out before he shows exactly what he’s capable of.
This makes combat scenes with this character pretty formulaic, while also slightly undermining the work of Demon Slayers who need to be active and alert during every fight. For a man who’s half-passed out to defeat some of the strongest foes in the series just doesn’t sit right.
2Hand Demon
There was a time whenDemon Slayerturned into a monster-of-the-week anime, which is part of the reason why the show had such a slow beginning. Most of these demons blend together until the show explores more interesting stories, although there was an encounter where it felt like Tanjiro was against the ropes.

This was against the twisted Hand Demon that aspiring Demon Slayers had to fight during their seven-day trial. The demon turned out to be a truly vile creature who had hunted down and killed several of Urokodaki’s students, including the duo that Tanjiro had encountered while he was trying to split the rock in two.
So, it was pretty disappointing to see Tanjiro deal with this demon easily, after barely taking a few hits. It completely betrayed the amazing buildup he received and gave a message to audiences — most demons roaming the world will be nothing more than small fry…for a while, at least.
1Enmu
It’s a shame that Enmu was nothing more than another hamfisted villain whose convoluted plan failed most spectacularly. While he was a decent antagonist during the Mugen Train arc, it quickly became apparent thathis role was just to die a dramatic death.
The only good thing about Enmu’s inclusion in the show is that it perfectly masked the unexpected appearance of Akaza. It was a great subversion, and a pretty basic character needed to be disposed of for this moment to happen.
