In an interview withEW,Jeffrey revealed the contestants angered him during one of the episodes because they were being too nice to each other. He shared,“I remember there was one episode in particular where I got really pissed off at them. Something big had just gone down, and I realized that they were just all telling each other everything. And I’m like, ‘You realize we’re playing a fing game here? This is for $250,000 that’s going to change one of your lives, and you’re all being big p***!'”
However, despite becoming frustrated with theDestination Xcontestants at times,Jeffrey enjoyed being the host of the show. He said,“I really had a fun time. There’s stuff that you don’t expect to happen, and there’s hilarious stuff that happens. And there’s hookups on the bus that happen.”
Jeffrey also shared that he got emotional a few times during the seasonbecause of the contestants. He explained,“I had a link that I could go directly to the bus at any given moment, and then I’d get a folder every night of all of the things that transpired on the bus. And it was crazy. It was the best part of my day was seeing what the f*** they’d been up to and who’s doing what!“He added,“It got me teared up three times in the course of the season.”

Like viewers, he found it frustrating to watch the contestants helping each other to the point of hurting their own games. After all, $250,000 is a lot of money, and backstabbing and betrayal are always major parts of any reality competition series. There has to be a balance between alliances and self-interest.

I don’t blame Jeffrey for getting upset with theDestination Xseason 1 contestantsfor helping each other too much. Sometimes the contestants need a reminder that,while forming alliances is important,they don’t owe their fellow competitors anything. Fans ofBig Brotherhave seen this mistake made twice, when Cody Calafiore brought Derrick Levasseur to the end of the game with him out of loyalty, and Makensy Manbeck brought Chelsie Baham, when they could’ve easily beaten the third-place finishers. While their integrity was admirable, it was hard to watch them throw away their own games for someone else.
I’m glad that theDestination Xcontestants had someone like Jeffrey giving them wake-up calls. I can’t wait to see what the big incident was that happened that the contestants told each other, and I hope that they show Jeffrey lecturing them. Reality TV has become kinder and gentler in recent years, butthat doesn’t mean the contestants have to sacrifice themselves for the good of others. Jeffrey understands what reality competition TV series are all about, and I can’t wait to see him motivate theDestination Xplayers to fight for the win.
