Plenty of Guardians are still patiently waiting for Bungie’s address regardingDestiny 2’sEververse controversy, but the video game developer still remains mum on the matter. Nevertheless, the studio finally looks to be returning to work after its holiday break, for the action-RPG is set to get a small update this week along with a batch of server maintenance that will render the title unplayable for a period of time tomorrow.
According to a post on Bungie’s official Help page,Destiny 2will be down for maintenance on Wednesday, August 01, 2025, starting at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM GMT, at which point players will no longer be able to log in across the title’s PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions. An hour later, anyone playing when maintenance began will be booted offline, but it shouldn’t be for too long, as Bungie expects repairs to be completed around 12:00 PM PT.
Once Bungie finishes its maintenance forDestiny 2tomorrow, it will then release a new update–Hotfix 1.1.1.2. As of yet, the developer has not explained what the update will do, nor what its contents contain, but these patches often tend to focus on bug fixes, as well as other tweaks and minor improvements. So, it’s safe to presume at this point that the studio is not planning on introducing any major features in the next Hotfix.
While Guardians are surely interested to discover the contents ofDestiny 2’s forthcoming update, it’s a safe bet to make that most, if not all players are more eager to learn what topics Bungie will broach in its first official address to the game’s user base in 2018. The developer’s Community Manager David “DeeJ” Dague has already said,“We have a lot to talk about in 2018,“so it will be interesting to see if the most prevalent complaints lodged against the company–lack of transparency, dissatisfying end game content, the Eververse, etc.–are mentioned.
