Destiny 2fans that have gone to events like E3, Gamescom, and GuardianCon have had somehands-on experiencewith Forsaken’s new game mode, Gambit. Today, Bungie announced that on September 1, all players will be able to try out Gambit in a 24-hour free-trial that kicks off at 10 a.m. PDT, so every player will get a little hands-on time with the exciting new game mode before Forsaken launches.
The announcement came during the Blizzard block of GamesCom, where Forsaken Game Director Steve Cotton and Project Lead Scott Taylor gave fans a run-down of what to expect whenDestiny 2’s big expansion launches this September. The Gambit free-trial will be available to all owners ofDestiny 2, and will give everyone a chance to try out the highly anticipated new game mode ahead of Forsaken. This will give fans something exciting to look forward to in the week leading up to Forsaken’s launch.
Bungie also showed off anew cinematic trailerstarring Cayde-6 at Gamescom, highlighting the last moments of the beloved Hunter Vanguard. Unlike most pre-release trailers from Bungie, this one highlights the new, dark tone that heralds the death of Cayde at the hands of Uldren Sov and the Barons. This heart-wrenching trailer shows what Cayde deals with during the first campaign mission in Forsaken, leading up to Uldren’s killing blow.
The Gambit free-trial is a great way for Bungie to get players hyped and ready for Forsaken, if the thought of vengeance wasn’t already enough. Thenew weapon slot changesgo into effect during this time, so players will be able to try out different weapon combinations as they face off against the Primeval and other Guardians in the new hybrid game mode. While the event only last for one day, fans don’t have much longer to wait before they can play Gambit whenever they want.
