Set in 1950’s America,Destroy All Humansputs players in the role of Crypto-137 - an alien whom, believe it or not, is intent on destroying all humans. The game was notorious for its subversion ofCold Warscience fiction and parodies of movies from the era. Rather than play as humans, are in control of the far more advanced aliens, utilizing a variety of high-tech gadgets and weapons.

These weapons range from lasers to tractor beams to hypnosis. While games are often casting players in the role of an underdog, it is refreshing to be able towreak unhindered destructionupon a world that cannot match their power. Players typically encounter enemies in the form of U.S army and government agents, but ordinary citizens can also pose a threat.

Originally released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox,Destroy All Humans!was met with critical success. Because of this, it seems that developers THQ Nordic has gone with asimilar design with extended gameplay. The most notable update is the graphics, which have been greatly improved from a decade and a half ago. Other aspects, like the voice-acting, have remained the same. THQ stated that the developers used the voices from the original game and plan to improve the quality, so gamers returning to the series shouldn’t expect any new dialogue.

Despite this, the release has many fans excited, with many returning to the series and plenty discovering it for the first time.

Destroy All Humans!is available on the 28th of July for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, and available now for Xbox One players that pre-ordered.
