Publisher Devolver Digital is well-known for its incredible Devolver Direct showcases that feature some of the most unhinged game reveals and announcements I’ve ever seen. This year will likely be no different, and it’s a showcase not to miss.
Devolver Direct 2023 saw the publisher introduce the world to Volvy, a character Devolver Digital has created who has a complete backstory as a mascot and video game protagonist. This year, it’s apparently Volvy’s 15th birthday, so he’ll again be a huge part of the showcase during Summer Game Fest. Devolver Direct 2024 takes place during Summer Game Fest onJune 7, 2024, at 5 PM PT/1 AM BST. For those of us in the UK, it’s going to require an all-nighter, lots of coffee, and a slow Sunday, but the rest of the world can watch it at a reasonable time.
One last platform where you might be able to catch Devolver Direct 2024 is Twitter.Indie Live Expo 2024will be streamed live toTwitter, so there’s a chance Devolver Digital will include the platform in its roster to get as much coverage as possible.
As for what you can expect to see at Devolver Direct 2024, your guess is as good as mine. The publisher has helped bring some phenomenal games likeThe Talos Principle 2andHotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. One game I would certainly love to see more of isBaby Steps. It’s a hugely challenging walking simulator in the same vein asGetting Over It, in which you must control every limb and the balance of the protagonist as he climbs his way across a series of awkward terrains with no gear and no idea.
