OneDiablo 4Hardcore mode player has lost all their progress thanks to their 4-year-old child. Hardcore Mode is risky in that a player’sDiablo 4character and save will be deleted if the player dies. The game also treats a server disconnect as a death to prevent gamers from severing their internet connection in an attempt to save their character when they know they are about to die.

Hardcore Mode is certainly not for the faint of heart, asone unluckyDiablo 4streamer found outafter forgetting that the game does not pause when opening the settings menu. Hardcore mode players have to be supremely careful when navigating the dark and mysterious world ofDiablo 4, or they will inevitably pay the price for mistakes that one might otherwise shrug off in a more forgiving game mode.

A Reddit user by the name of -Nok17 is mourning the loss of their level 80 character who ended up dying after they left their PC unattended for a few moments, giving their 4-year-old child enough time to interfere and get the character killed. The unlucky Redditor had taken a short break to go prepare some tacos and returned to find that their character was no longer of this world, and created a post to serve as a warning to otherDiablo 4players.

Commenters offered their condolences, and suggested a variety of different “punishments,” such as giving the child regular nuggets instead of dino nuggets, buying off-brand ketchup, or feeding the child broccoli for 80 days. Nok17 said in a response that they weren’t upset at their child, but did lose their appetite. It’s just as well since players shouldn’t get too attached to their characters, as it has been confirmed thatDiablo 4will require a new characterfor every season of the game.

The first1000 players to reach level 100 inDiablo 4will be immortalized by their names being engraved on a statue of Lilith at Blizzard’s HQ. It is recommended that anyDiablo 4Hardcore players log out of the game rather than leaving it unattended, even if they are only going to be away for a few minutes.

Diablo 4is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
