About a couple of months ago, Blizzard Entertainment’s careers site hosted a bevy ofdifferent job listingsfor Artists, Animators, and Engineers, with the open positions seemingly inferring that the development of a newDiablogame is happening. Now, Blizzard has teased that this could definitely be a possibility, as the franchise’s Associate Community Manager, Brandy “Nevalistis” Camel recently revealed the studio has “multiple projects” in the works which are related to the action-RPG series.
As seen in the video below regarding the future ofDiablo, Camel initially touches on Season 14 ofDiablo 3by discussing Themed Seasons, with Blizzard promising to explore additional themes at some point down the line. Shortly thereafter, the Associate Community Manager says that of the “multipleDiabloprojects in the works”, some of them will “take longer than others”, which implies a direct followup toDiablo 3could be in the cards.
Camel also teases the possibility of Blizzard showing off something later this year related toDiablo, with the IP’s Associate Community Manager concluding that the game “is, and always will be, a part of Blizzard’s identity”. Bearing this in mind, there’s a chance that the company might be planning a big reveal for the franchise’s next installment at the developer’s annual BlizzCon event, with the project potentially being featured alongside the rest of the studio’s new wares on the way in November.
While there’s no telling what each of these “multipleDiabloprojects” are just yet, the safe bet is not only a new numbered entry in the future, but also aNintendo Switch port ofD3. After all, rumors have been swirling quite some time about the action-RPG making the leap to the Big N’s hybrid mobile console, but Blizzard has yet to officially acknowledge as much. Hopefully, though, we will learn more about what’s to come for theDiablofranchise sooner rather than later.
