Our Take: The Reactions Are Understandable

There’s A Lot Of Heat Aimed At Mario Kart World Right Now

The reactions to the Nintendo Direct are understandable.A lot of fans were probably looking for a reason that would justify the game’s $80 price tag, like an expansive story mode or more details regarding online play and netcode, and that was not what was delivered. We did get a hint thatthe iconic Rainbow Road trackwill be unlockable and confirmation that the game will have four-player split-screen multiplayer, but that information was probably already assumed by a lot of fans given the series' history.

With a lot of heat aimed at Nintendo andMario Kart Worldsince the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, it doesn’t seem like this Direct was enough to change a lot of fans' opinions. How the game will be received on June 5 when it launches alongside the Switch 2 remains to be seen, but a lot of fans are justifiably skeptical still.
