Fans voice off about the potentially time-specific release of the Cheshire Cat in a Reddit thread started byMistakePlusdiscussing the update reveal. It wasn’t specifically spelled out, but the phrasing of the presenter in the Developer Update hints at a time-gated release of the Cat, with the host Courtney stating thatthe Cheshire Cat’s integration into the Valley would take place “over the next few weeks.”

Dreamlight Valleyreleases a new free update every few months, bringing more and more of its characters into the game. For instance, theTales from Agrabahupdatebrought Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Magic Carpet into the title. Most of the time, these updates only require players tocomplete the characters' quests in the respective Realms, then build their homes in the Valley to get the character to move in as a permanent resident.
However, it seems like the Cheshire Cat’s residency will be more hard-earned than that. According to the Developers Update,the Cheshire Cat’s arrival in the Valley will be accompanied by chaos and shenanigans. Getting the magical cat as a Valley resident will only be achieved once the Cat’s riddles are solved, over the course of several real-world weeks.

Fans Aren’t Thrilled About This Decision
If the Cheshire Cat really is time-gated, this won’t be the first time that developer Gameloft has made a villager’s arrival span several days. Thepopular blue alien Stitch, who was added to the game in December 2022, alsorequires the completion of a time-gated quest over 10 real days.
The decision to potentially introduce the Cheshire Cat in the same way isn’t sitting well with some fans. “I really hope it doesn’t take that long to get Cheshire Cat,” saysKilliganKallie. Besides needing more of a time commitment, the Cheshire Cat’s late arrival might also mean thatthe popular new addition of the Uncrafting Station will take some time to get,since it’s linked to the Cheshire Cat’s Friendship quests.
If the Cheshire Cat will take some time to get, it will hopefully follow the same time frame as Stitch and only take about a week and a half and not a “couple of weeks” as the Developer Update toDisney Dreamlight Valleymakes it seem. All will be revealed once theWonderland Whimsydrops on April 23 as a free update.
