Unfortunately for Bethesda, some of its E3 2018 surprises were leaked ahead of time, withRage 2prematurely revealed by Walmart Canada. However, as promised, the company still had some surprises for fans, including the announcement ofDoom Eternal, the sequel to the well-received 2016 reboot.

Doom Eternalwas revealed with a gory trailer that showed a number of monstrosities lumbering around Hell, including a crazy-looking walking tank that looks like a human brain. This cinematic trailer didn’t include any gameplay or release date details, but it should get fans of the reboot excited nevertheless.

Following the trailer, id Software developers took the stage at E3 to share some more information about the game. They stopped short of revealing many specifics, but promised thatDoom Eternalwill feature new weapons and abilities for players to utilize against the demonic hordes. The game will also feature a soundtrack by Mick Gordon and will see players fighting new and returning enemies across different dimensions.

While some fans may be disappointed that Bethesda didn’t share many details aboutDoom Eternalat itsE3 2018 press conference, the good news is that they won’t have to wait too much longer to learn more about it. As it turns out, more information aboutDoom Eternalwill come at QuakeCon on August 10, which will include a full gameplay reveal.

It will be interesting to see just how much ofDoom Eternalis shown at QuakeCon this year. For example, it will be interesting to see ifDoom Eternalwill feature theSnapMap featurefrom the reboot, and if it will have both a dedicated single player campaign along with a full-fledged multiplayer mode. It will also be interesting to learn ifDoom Eternalwill have a Nintendo Switch port like the 2016 reboot, or if a Switch version may be in the cards at a later date.
