Releasing on Xbox Game Pass in early October,Doom Eternalhas already become a staple of the service, fitting nicely alongside some of its biggest blockbusters. With the announcement that Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Bethesda,Eternalseems like a taste of what’s to come.Xbox promises the publisher’s upcoming games will be available for Game Pass at release.

The news comes directly after today’s announcement of a brand new Master Level, with the “Super Gore Nest” mission being spruced up with added difficulty, higher enemy counts, and more powerful foes. While the mission originally took place in the first half ofEternal’scampaign, this punishing variation will feature endgame enemies including the Arch-Vile, Marauder, and Tyrant. It also follows yesterday’s reveal thatDoom Eternalwill be hitting Switchsoon, slated to make its handheld debut on December 8.
For those who didn’t catchDoom Eternalwhen it released in March, it follows on from id Software’s widely-heralded 2016 reboot of the franchise. This time, the Doom Slayer takes the fight to Earth, with the planet becoming overrun with all manner of demonic monsters. As expected fromid Software’s iconic shooter series, it features heaps of gore, guns, and more of the fast-paced shooting that defined the franchise upon release.

The game just launched its first slice of DLC inThe Ancient Gods Part 1,and will be getting a follow-up in the coming months. Meanwhile, it will also be making its way to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 through an enhanced upgrade, promising to take advantage of both consoles' upgraded hardware.
The studio has been nominated for the coveted Game of the Year Award atGeoff Keighley’s annual Game Awardsas well. It has some worthy competition, withFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us 2,andHadesall vying for the top spot.
Doom Eternalis now available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development and a Switch port launching on December 8.
