Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotfans are waiting patiently through the Tokyo Game Show in hopes that the release date for DLC 2 will finally be released. This upcoming expansion will introduceSuper Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegetaand mark the return of one of Goku’s oldest nemeses, Golden Frieza. Aside from that, though, recent leaks purport that a free update could be revealed at Tokyo Game Show as well, potentially adding more content to the game for everyone to enjoy, even those without the DLC. What type of content that would be is anyone’s guess, but there are a few things in particular that fans would love to see.
Rumors about a free update forDragon Ball Z: Kakarothave been circulating for some time now, but picked up speed when the Card Battle mode was leaked through V Jump scans. Since then, Bandai Namco still hasn’t given any official recognition of a free update or even the Card Battle mode, but leaks from sources like Ken Xyro and Dragon Ball Hype tend to be accurate unless they are specifically stated as speculation.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotwill be featured by Bandai Namco at the Tokyo Game Show on September 27th, so there isn’t much time to wait before the truth is revealed.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Card Battle Mode and Other End Game Content
This one is a given, but it is odd that it’s been so long since the Card Battle mode was leaked and yet there’s been no mention of it by Bandai Namco. It’s even been mentioned and discussed several more times in theV Jump magazine leaks, so it is a surefire thing that it’s coming eventually. Whether or not that comes with the free content update or even further down the line remains to be seen, but it seems most likely that it will be arriving this Fall alongside that update.
Fans seem to have mixed feelings about aCard Battle mode coming toDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, namely because there are a lot of other things that fans would prefer more. At the same time, though, if it is enjoyable enough, it could provide players a reason to come back toDragon Ball Z: Kakarotafter clearing DLC 2. This would be nothing short of a godsend as fans' main complaint with the game as it stands is that it lacks any semblance of worthwhile endgame content. It would be up to each person to decide if a Card Battle mode could substitute for that purpose or not.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Increased Level Cap and Reworked Level Scaling
In order for Golden Frieza to be more powerful than Beerus, odds are he will be set at a higher level than the level 250 Beerus fight. Of course, if that’s the case, the player will need to go beyond level 250 also, so it seems likely that there will be alevel cap increase inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. What is still unclear, though, is whether this will come as part of DLC 2 or part of the free update. If it’s included in the DLC then those without the season pass will still be stuck at level 250.
Along the same lines, thelevel scaling system inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotneeds to be reworked. As it stands, a level 250 character can’t find a challenge in anything other than the DLC 1 boss fight, and with the right preparation, Beerus is easy as well. There needs to be a way to either increase the level of enemies fought in the time machine, a game mode that scales the player’s level down to match his opponent’s, or at the very least new content that can challenge players at this limit aside from just the boss.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Free Roam Transformations and Fusions
The fact that this feature was missing from the game to start with is a bit bizarre, as there’s an entireSuper Saiyan form (Super Saiyan Full Power)dedicated to being a Super Saiyan outside of combat. Fans wanted this feature so bad that they found glitches to get around the restriction and allowed their party members to remain in Super Saiyan or other forms after finishing a combat. This would be a small, mostly cosmetic touch given the Auto Super Saiyan skill but a nice one.
Even more bizarre is thelack of fusion characters inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Gotenks and Vegito are arguably two of the most beloved characters in the franchise due to their immense power and unique circumstances, but players are only able to make use of them during three fights in total.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotcould pull fromDragon Ball Super’s retcon, allowing Goku and Vegeta to fuse with the Potara earrings for one hour before splitting, and Goten and Trunks could simply do the Fusion Dance every half hour. This would make free-roam a lot more fun.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - New Playable Characters
As beloved as Goku and Vegeta are, many fans are tired of seeing the same two Saiyans work their way through various color palettes of Super Saiyan and want a chance to play other characters. Fighters likeKrillin, Goten, Trunks, Android 18, Yamcha, and Tienare all already in the game but are relegated to support roles. Making these characters playable would diversify the roster quite a bit, though it would be difficult to make them reach any kind of power similar to Goku and Vegeta’s.
Beyond that, there are also several characters that aren’t usable as support characters that would be great additions as playable characters. Majin Buu, Master Roshi, Videl, Android 17, Beerus, Whis, and potentially evenGolden Frieza could be playable characters inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwithout the need for too much explanation. Given thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarothas cast aside canon a few times, working something like this into the post-game elements wouldn’t be much of a stretch. Of course, it remains to be seen whether any of these things will come to pass, but at the very least fans should hope for some more substantial end game content that might revitalizeDragon Ball Z: Kakarotto its former glory.
