Elden Ring Nightreignis getting a new super-hard boss very soon, replacing the current Everdark Sovereign version of the Gaping Jaw expedition boss, Adel Baron of the Night. As more challenging versions of existing Night Lords in the game,t he Everdark Sovereign expeditions are the hardest boss fightsNightreignoffers. The current Everdark Sovereign fight can still be played until the new one releases later this week, and if it’s anything like the first one, fans may be in for a rough fight.
Announced by the officialELDEN RINGX account, the Everdark Sovereign version of the Darkdrift Knight will be released on June 26 at 10 a.m. EST, replacing the previously added Everdark Sovereign version of the Gaping Jaw expedition. Fans still have until June 26 to party up and take down the harder version of Adel Baron of Night before it is temporarily retired.

What To Expect From The New Everdark Sovereign Boss Fight
An Extreme Challenge, Even For Souls Pros
The currentEverdark Sovereign fight against Gaping Jawis excruciatingly difficult. The boss begins in phase two, is way faster, has a new AOE tornado attack, and is relentlessly oppressive. Going off the way the latest fight was designed, fans can likely expect a comparable challenge from Darkdrift Knight. The base version of Darkdrift Knight is weak to lightning, and the same poison weakness worked on the harder Gaping Jaw boss, so it’s likely weak to the same element again, if players can get lucky with the RNG drops of the legendary weapons, spells, and other items.
Many fans reported havingissues defeating the Gaping Jaw boss with a full three-player party, all legendary weapons, and at the max level of 15. Scarlet Rot was a great status effect to use against Darkdrift Knight because he moves around a lot. Poison was also somewhat effective. How the exact mechanics of the updated fight work remains to be seen, but it will likely be similar to Gaping Jaw, with Darkdrift Knight starting in phase two, becoming much faster, and featuring new attacks.

Our Take: Elden Ring Nightreign Keeps Getting Better
FromSoftware Is Clearly Putting Nightreign As A Priority
Nightreignwas released to a mixed reception, with most criticism aimed at the game’s matchmaking and thelack of voice chat in a multiplayer-focused game. However, it seems like developer FromSoftware is committed to makingNightreignas good as it can be. With new, harder versions of current bosses already coming out, and DLC coming later this year that will have new Nightfarers and new bosses,Nightreignmay have enough content addedto keep fans coming back for one more run.
No information has been released on when the Everdark Sovereign version of the Gaping Jaw fight will return, or which Night Lord will get the “hard mode” treatment after Darkdrift Knight. Fights are releasing at a rapid pace, so even if fans have conquered everything in the base game ofElden Ring Nightreign, they should be able to return to the game frequently for a new challenge.
