AlthoughAvengers: Endgamelikely doesn’t need any extra press or promoting to break box office records, it appears that aFortnitecrossover might be in the film’s future. First was a datamine that suggested theThanos Infinity Gauntlet mode will be returningsoon and now a tease from Epic Games’ Donald Mustard suggests Fortnite might have even bigger plans.
On Twitter, the Epic Games Creative Director posted a picture of actor Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man/Tony Stark inAvengers, with aFortniteshirt on and included the caption, “Looking good, @RobertDowneyJr. See you soon! #teamdowney”
Mustard could just be celebrating the fact that Downey Jr. is wearing aFortniteshirt and representing his company’s brand, but the, “See you soon,” message suggests something more is in the works. That, combined with the recent leak of the Infinity Gauntlet mode returning and the release ofAvengers: Endgameis hard to overlook as a coincidence.
So if Robert Downey Jr. is working with Epic Games andFortnite, the upcomingAvengerstie-inmight be of a larger scale than previously thought. While the Infinity Gauntlet mode letFortniteplayers turn into Thanos and wield the titular weapon, it didn’t have any Avengers elements too it.
PerhapsFortniteis going all out for this next crossover by including Avengers like Iron Man and since the game is so successful (read: Epic Games has lots of money) the developers can afford to do it right by letting Robert Downey Jr. voice the character. Maybe there are going to beFortniteskins and cosmeticsthemed afterAvengersitems; it wouldn’t be too hard to create an Iron Man skin.
Of course, this could all be misdirection on the part of Epic Games’ Creative Director.Fortnitefans are replying to Mustard’s tweet hoping that there is something more involved, but he could just be trying to stir the pot. Still, if Downey Jr. is really visiting Epic Games soon then we should find out if thisFortniteand Marvel crossover speculation is real or not.
Fortniteis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
