The announced addition of player housing toWorld of Warcraft: Midnighthas been such a popular topic that this upcoming change has overshadowed much of what is coming with this expansion next year. All this scrutiny and excitement may be putting a lot of pressure on the developers to get it right, but recent reveals at Gamescom 2025 certainly make it look like it will be well worth the hype, and fans are already clamoring for more.
Over the past several months, Blizzard has been slowly doling out tidbits ofinformation on the upcoming housing mechanics. As we near ever closer toMidnight’s release in 2026, therevealed images and explanations just keep getting better. It has previously been said that we will be able to decorate our homes and neighborhoods to make them customized and personal, but now we have an even greater understanding of what that means.
Housing In World Of Warcraft Will Feature Fully Customizable Homes
With Hundreds Of Decor Items
Player houses inWoWwill not just be a cookie-cutter idea of one basic frame copied and pasted across an instanced zone. We will each be able to freely decorate our homes with3D placement tools for freeform or grid-based decorating.
A blog post from Blizzard previously describedhow the advanced interior decoratingwill work and showed just how easy it should be for anyone to decorate their space as much or as little as they want.
Modular room layouts will feature vertical stacking, and there aredyes available to recolor furniture to match your preferred style or taste. The experience is said to be intuitive and feature-rich, to give everyone their fantasy of having a home of their own in Azeroth.
Decorating your house will be a way of showcasing many of the quests and adventures you’ve been on inWoW.Hundreds of decor items will be able to be earnedthrough dungeons, raids, achievements, questlines, crafting, holiday events, and Endeavors, as well as from the Auction House.
Houses In WoW Will Be In Unique Neighborhoods
Public And Private Zones Available
Neighborhoods inWoWwill include Public and Private (Guild or Charter) zones that willhave space for up to 50 players in each. These neighborhoods will include monthly Endeavors which will offer progression, themed decor items, and even NPC evolution within the neighborhood. Community Coupons and Neighborhood Favor will unlock additional upgrades.
Blizzard has assured that, unlike some other MMOs,houses inWorld of Warcraftwill be accessibleto any player who wishes to have one by beingcheap to purchase and not requiring any upkeepor active subscription.
All members of a Warband can use the same house, if desired, but are not restricted to that, and all housing-related unlocks will be account-wide.
Ultimately, there will undoubtedly be some issues with the housing system at launch. This is a major system being added to the game after all. Yet, so far, everything announced for player housing inWorld of Warcraftlooks fun and exciting, and I can’t wait to start decorating my corner of Azeroth.
