Ubisoft’s knights vs. samurai vs. vikings titleFor Honorwas the best selling game for the month of February 2017. The title didn’t have too much competition, but Ubisoft should be proud that yetanother new IPwith a unique concept has landed the studio on the top of the charts.
Offering a new twist on the fighting game genre,For Honorwas a hard one to predict as far as whether players would be interested. However, one closed beta and one open beta test seemed to have generated enough excited to help fuel first month sales.
As far as that competition is concerned,For Honorbeat outholdoverResident Evil 7for the top spot, dashing its chances at a repeat appearance at number 1. Capcom’s survival horror sequel, which is also something of a reboot, has been on a tear since launching in January, and fans have been very vocal about their enjoyment of the game.
For the most part, February looks a lot like January, with many of the most popular games of 2016 (and in some cases 2015) making the list. Check out the full list of February 2016 top selling games below:
The only other new contender on the February 2017 game sales charts isNioh, the PS4 exclusive character action game. Obviously, a PS4 exclusive is going to have a more difficult time making the top of the list, but theNiohdevelopers at Team Ninja still have a lot to be proud of.
Dubbed by some as “Samurai Souls,”Niohoffers an extremely challenging experience where almost every enemy can take out the player in just a few hits. And likeDark Souls,Niohhas some very involved boss fights, many of which can leave players wanted to tear their hair out or break a controller. All that said, it’s impressive to seeNiohmake the charts and hopefully this bodes well for future Team Ninja projects.
Speaking of PS4 exclusives, it’s important to point out thatHorizon: Zero Dawnwas only available for one day in February, so it was unlikely to make the top 10. But, considering Sony just revealed that the title hassold 2.6 million copies, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Guerrilla Games’ title unseatFor Honorfor the March 2017 title.
