As Earth-65’s Gwen Stacy, also known as Ghost-Spider, officially moves to Marvel’s main continuity on Earth-616, the symbiote she’s grown attached to over the years is taking a rough turn.
As part of Marvel Comics’ solicitations for October 2025, Marvel released new details for the upcomingAll-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider #3. After Spider-Gwen’s series relaunches in August, along with Gwen’s permanent move to the main comic universe,the hero’s famous symbiote suitwill officially become her frightening new nemesis.

The mysterious entity who’s been hounding Gwen is revealed – meet TANTRUM, Gwen’s former symbiote! It’s out for revenge for being abandoned when Ghost-Spider got her powers back, jealous that it’s not a part of Gwen’s perfect new life!
Gwen’s former symbiote now calls itself Tantrumand has turned against her after being left behind in the character’s all-new era. After years of providing Gwen with powers and her iconic suit, Earth-65’s unique kind of symbiote becomes a fresh new villain for the entire Marvel Universe to deal with.

Along witha full costume redesign for her reinvigorated era, Spider-Gwen finally losing her symbiote gives the hero a fresh start in Marvel’s main universe. Still, the symbiote isn’t going to let Gwen forget all about them. As the symbiote takes on a new villain identity,Tantrum will certainly cause some commotion to make Gwen payfor leaving it behind.
In the universe of Earth-65, this special version of the symbiote was created by Dr. Elsa Brock, using a substance called Radioactive Spider Isotopes. When Gwen lost her powers in her original universe,bonding with this version of the symbiote and briefly being known as Gwenom restored her superpowers. The symbiote had been her suit from then on.
At the end of Gwen’s last run, shemade her move to Earth-616 officialby literally rewriting reality. However, Gwen made some major changes that are bound to have serious ramifications for the entire Marvel Universe. After ridding herself of the symbiote and getting her original powers back,Tantrum’s reappearance should teach Gwen a lesson about messing with the multiverse.

Spider-Gwen’s overwhelming popularity brought the hero over to the main universe, but as she tries to give herself a full reboot with no symbiote to rely on, her former power source is unfortunately out for revenge.
