Fortnite’sFortnitemares Halloween eventis slated to start on Wednesday, October 24th, according to a post on the game’s PS4 community. The event listing claims that the Fortnitemares event will feature Spooky Rewards and challenges, and it will last until Sunday, November 4th.

This Fortnitemares event would mark one of the first times that players are given in-game challenges with the promise of rewards. Typically, the Battle Pass doles out skins and various cosmetics, but it requires an upfront cost. And any additional cosmetics carry their own price tag.

According to this listing, though, it sounds as if these Fortnitemares challenges will actually reward players with cosmetics for completing them. Epic has been teasing somespookyFortniteskinsand items via its social media accounts, so it’s possible those will be part of the rewards system.

Even so, since nothing official has been confirmed by Epic Games, it’s best to treat this with a grain of salt. The timing of the event’s start and its conclusion don’t align with a typical “Fortnite week” and a PS4 event page can easily be edited by a non-Epic member.

The Wednesday start date makes sense since Fortnite starts a new week every Wednesday with a new update. However, the 11:00am start time is confusing since the updates and the new week go live somewhere around 2 or 3am PT. Moreover, newBattle Pass challengesfor Fortnite don’t go live until the following day, on Thursday.

Then there is the question of why the Fortnitemares event would end on a Sunday and not a Tuesday. It would make much more sense for the event to last a week rather than a week and a half. Perhaps because it is Halloween themed, Epic needed to make sure it was still active on the 31st but didn’t want the event to go too far into November.

If the Fortnite Halloween event does start this week, expect Epic Games to make an official announcement soon. Most likely it will be before the end of the day.
