When a game becomes as popular asFortniteis, incidents of accounts getting stolen orfraudulently chargedare almost inevitable. Hoping to combat this, Epic Games is offering an in-game reward to players who enable two-factor authentication, an important precaution that this guide will explain how to do.

The in-game reward is adance emote, the Boogie Down, which will be given to players who set up the increased security on theiraccounts. It’s a decent reward, since dance emotes are relatively hard to come by - especially for free-to-play players who don’t have access to the full tiers of the Battle Pass.

To enable two-factor authentication onFortnite:

If using an authenticator app, one must first be downloaded to a mobile device. There are many to choose from, the most popular ones being Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator. The app can then be used to scan the QR code displayed on the Epic Games page, which will cause the app to display a code that can be typed into the Epic Games page to complete the set up.

If using email authentication, a code will simply be sent to the user’s email address. This code can then be entered into the Epic Games website to verify that the email is secure and complete the set up.

After the two-factor authentication is activated on an Epic Games account, the free dance emote should be credited to the player the next time they log intoFortnite.

For players who haven’t yet activated two-factor authentication on their Epic Accounts, doing so is now a no-brainer. Not only is there a free dance emote, but the priceless reward of peace of mind.

Fortniteis in early access now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
