Fortniteis announcing the arrival of “Wild Weeks.” The all-new event is designed to put an emphasis on a unique gameplay dynamic, mixing things up and causing players to rethink their usual strategies.Fortnitecompetition should heat up over the next seven days, as the first Wild Week theme is “Fighting Fire with Fire.”
Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale shooter appear to be ensuring its last month of Season 6 is a memorable one. The “Primal” season has already seen a hefty amount of changes to the game, includingthe addition of vehicle modification items, a weapon crafting system, and significant map alterations. NowFortnite’s dynamics are set to shift even further off-kilter with the advent of Wild Weeks.

Starting on May 6, players will notice that fire-based, well, everything has come to the game’s forefront. Flame Bows will spawn in greater numbers across the map, as will fireflies, making this week’s quest ofusing a Firefly Jar at the Pizza Pita much easier task than it would normally be. Adding more fuel to the fire-themed Wild Week, Epic has decided to make everything more flammable, meaning fire spreads much easier than it has in the past, which is fitting considering this week’s Legendary Quest, which has players destroying up to 500 structures with fire. Flames will also be deadlier for the next seven days, causing more damage than ever before.
The Fighting Fire with Fire Wild Week will also see the return of a long-vaulted weapon, the Flare Gun. Unseen sinceFortniteChapter 2 Season 3, the Flare Gun acts a bit like an incendiary grenade launcher, with an arching single shot turning into a flaming explosion on impact. While the weapon does up to 60 damage and sets structures alight, it also possesses a unique functionality that should prove invaluable during this week’s events. The Flare Gun, assuming the shot fired stays in the air long enough, will mark all opponents within a 50 meter radius for 60 seconds.
While Wild Weeks isn’t likely to be universally loved, it seems like a relatively good idea to (quite literally this week) spice things up for the last few weeks of Season 6. One flame-themed item that would be perfect for the event, but is curiously missing, isthe notorious Fire Trap. WhileFortnitehas seemingly vaulted any and all traps this season, it would be the perfect excuse to temporarily bring it back, much like what it’s doing with the Flare Gun.
TheFortniteFighting Fire with Fire Wild Week will run for exactly seven days, ending on May 13 at 10 am ET. Not everyone is going to be a fan of the fire-tinged battle royale this week, but those waiting for things to cool off have a new alternative. The Creative Mayhem LTMcompetition was announced a couple of days ago, aFortniteCreative event where death run experts can get the chance to play with their favorite content creators.
Fortniteis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
