A 2018 phenomena,Fortnitehas seen a number of changes this year, with datamines of the recent v7.10 update suggesting even more changes are inbound. It’s worth mentioning that v7.10 was a big update, as it has also been the source of theFrozen Legends skin leaksand New Year event leaks. But this latest leak suggests that the entire map of the battle island will soon be completely covered in snow.
For now, the wintry weather has just been allocated to the southwestern corner of the map. It spreading, however, would change up a lot for theFortnitemeta as a whole because other players would be easier to hear, vehicles would slide everywhere, and surely story content would be involved. Of course, while this lore is always more implied than directly told, it appears that something is going on with Polar Peaks for this season.
Although it was just added, Polar Peaks has slowly been melting in order to reveal the Ice King’s castle. This could potentially be where the snow to cover the island even comes from. We don’t know if it will be a gradual procession over the island or an instant change, but thanks toFortniteleaker Lucas7yoshi, we do know what it looks like.
One thing worth considering is the forthcoming addition of the driftboard. While it was supposed to go live alongside the v7.10 update, Epic decided todelay it for an unspecified amount of time. However, when and if the island is covered in snow, this single-user vehicle could likely shake up the game.Fortniteplayers should keep an eye out for the driftboard’s inclusion then.
In the meantime, players will soon be able to check out this year’s festivities with the14 Days ofFortniteevent. One of the biggest aspects of this event is the frequently rotating LTMs, with players getting to check out new LTMs but also enjoy returning fan-favorites. After all, ‘tis the season inFortnite.
