Thestory ofFreaky Friday 2follows a similar premise to the first movie, only this time with Lohan’s Anna as a mother herself.Freakier Friday’s trailer teases as much, all while showcasing the movie’s main cast.
As a sequel, several cast members fromFreakier Fridayreturn from the 2003 original. Here is every one of them, from the film’s two main leads to supporting cast members.
10Jamie Lee Curtis
Jamie Lee Curtis returns forFreakier Fridayas Tess Coleman. In the first movie, Tess was a psychiatrist who was engaged to a man named Ryan, much to the chagrin of her daughter, who had not come to terms with the death of her father years prior. This causes Tess and her daughter to often clash, until the two swap bodies and begin to understand one another.
Freakier Fridayfollows a similar story, only this time with the inclusion of Tess' grandchild and soon-to-be step-grandchild. As proven by the sequel’s trailer, Curtis' Tess swaps bodies with her impending step-granddaughter. As with the first movie, the plot revolves around faking it as a new person until the body-swapping ends.
Curtis' return is a big deal, due to both her role in the first movie and her illustrious career. Curtis' breakthrough role came in 1978’sHalloweenas Laurie Strode, a role she has reprised in several sequels. Beyond that, Curtis was known for her role in James Cameron’sTrue Lies.
More recently, Curtis has appeared inEverything Everywhere All at Once, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Other movies includeKnives OutandBorderlands, with Curtis also receiving acclaim for her guest role inThe Bear.
9Lindsay Lohan
Actress Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman in Disney’s Freaky Friday.
Alongside Curtis,Freakier Fridayfeatures the return of Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman. Anna’s role in the first movie saw her clashing with her mother, Curtis' Tess, over the imminent wedding to Ryan. Anna was shown to still be struggling with the death of her father, explaining the tension around Tess' remarriage.
Freakier Fridaysees Anna in the position her mother once was, marrying into a new family. Anna is set to marry Manny Jacinto’s Eric, yet her daughter, Harper, does not get along with Eric’s daughter, Lily. This time, the body swap puts Anna into her daughter’s body and vice versa, much like her and Tess' dynamic in the original.
As with Curtis,Lohan’s return forFreakier Fridayis a big deal. Lohan’s career has been tumultuous, primarily due to her substance and legal issues in the late 2000s and early 2010s. However, Lohan has been open about these issues and her rehabilitation, with the 2020s seeing a much more positive spin for her career.

8Mark Harmon
Mark Harmon is another actor who returns fromFreaky FridayforFreakier Friday.Harmon portrayed Ryan in the first movie, the soon-to-be husband of Curtis' Tess. The end of the first movie saw Ryan and Tess get married, with Harmon returning for the sequel.
InFreakier Friday, Ryan is now Tess' husband of several decades. Ryan does not have a huge role in the sequel, but he offers a lot of laughs as someone on the outside of the body-swapping, witnessing the strange goings-on now that his wife’s mind is in the body of a teenager.
Freakier Fridaywill be Harmon’s first theatrical role since 2009’sWeather Girl.The reason for this is Harmon’s extensive TV work, with the actor best known for his Leroy Jethro Gibbs in theNCISfranchise. Now, though, Harmon returns with ease to a great role from an iconic movie.
Alongside Curtis, Lohan, and Harmon, Chad Michael Murray will reprise his role of Jake inFreakier Friday. Jake’s role in the first movie was as Anna’s love interest, though he also humorously fell for her mother, Tess, after the body-swapping confusion. In the finale of the first movie, Jake and Anna become an official couple after receiving Tess' blessing.
Murray returns as Jake inFreakier Friday,with him and Anna having broken up between the first two movies. In the sequel, the souls of Harper and Lily, inside Anna and Tess' bodies, attempt to reignite a relationship between Jake and his former flame to ensure Anna’s wedding to Eric does not go ahead.
After his role inFreaky Friday, Murray appeared in films likeA Cinderella Storybefore going on to have a bigger career in TV. Murray’s best-known role is Lucas Scott inOne Tree Hill, with recurring appearances coming in the likes ofChosen, Agent Carter, Riverdale, andSullivan’s Crossing.
6Rosalind Chao
Rosalind Chao appears inFreakier Fridayas Pei-Pei, an instrumental character from the original movie. Pei-Pei works at a Chinese restaurant with her mother, with the latter being the catalyst for the original body swap. Pei-Pei then helps Anna and Tess with their dilemma, insisting that an act of true selflessness will reverse the body swap.
InFreakier Friday, Chao returns as Pei-Pei in one small scene. Pei-Pei is accused of hiring a fortune teller, the catalyst for the body-swapping this time, referencing the first movie. Chao is perhaps best known forFreaky Fridayand the 2020 reboot ofMulan. In the realm of TV, Chao is known forAfterMASH, Star Trek: The Next GenerationandDeep Space Nine,and 2024’s3 Body Problem.
5Lucille Soong
Lucille Soong plays Pei-Pei’s mother inFreaky Fridayand is who causes Anna and Tess to swap bodies. While the trailer forFreakier Fridayhints that Vanessa Bayer’s Madame Jen is the reason for the body swap in the sequel, Soong reprises her role as Pei-Pei’s mom. Like Chao, Soong only appears at Anna’s bachelorette party and doesn’t play much of a role beyond this.
Soong is known for her voice role inRaya and the Last Dragonand a recurring role inDesperate Housewives.Between 2015 and 2020, Soong portrayed Grandma Huang in the sitcomFresh Off the Boat.
4Christina Vidal Mitchell
Christina Vidal Mitchell reprises her role inFreakier Fridayafter playing Maddie in the first movie. Maddie was Anna’s bandmate, who appeared as somewhat of a confidant for Lohan’s character before the two were driven apart by the body-swapping.
In the finale of the first movie, Anna and Tess join forces to allow Maddie and the rest of the band, Pink Slip, to perform at an important concert. In the sequel, Anna and Maddie are still close friends, despite Pink Slip being disbanded. By the ending, though, Pink Slip reunites for a final performance.
Christina Vidal Mitchell is best known for several TV series'. Mitchell played the titular character inTainain the early 2000s. More recent work saw her play a main role in the TV adaptation ofTraining Day, as well as appearing in Prime Video’sThe Terminal List.
3Haley Hudson
Haley Hudson plays another of Anna’s bandmates, Peg, inFreaky Friday. Hudson returns as Peg inFreakier Friday, also serving as one of Anna’s best friends in their adult life. Hudson’s acting roles sinceFreaky Fridayhave been limited, yet she is currently part of the band Hudson Rubin, formed with another member of the film’s fictional “Pink Slip” band.
2Ryan Malgarini
The younger brother of Anna inFreaky Friday, Harry, was played by Ryan Malgarini, who reprises his role inFreakier Friday.Harry was less of a focus in both movies, given that it was his family who became the subject of a body-swap plot. In the sequel, Malgarini’s only scene comes at a rehearsal dinner for his sister’s wedding.
BeyondFreaky Fridayand its sequel, Malgarini is best known for his main role inGary Unmarried.
1Stephen Tobolowsky
Stephen Tobolowsky appears in bothFreaky FridayandFreakier Fridayas Mr. Elton Bates. In the first movie, Bates purposely mistreated Anna during school in revenge for Tess' rejection of him when they were younger. InFreakier Friday,Bates is shown taking out even more anger on Anna’s daughter, Harper, in an extended scene during a school detention.
Tobolowsky is a prolific character actor, having hundreds of credits across film and TV. Tobolowsky’s best-known roles came in the likes ofGroundhog Day,Momento, Deadwood, Heroes, Glee, The Goldbergs,andThe Mindy Project.InFreakier Friday, he returns in a limited role, though one that holds some big connections to the first movie.
